Very strange. My cousin was scammed by this company, and they have a very good scam going. They advertise in Newspapers, and they promise that they can help people find a job in the airline field. When you call the phone number 202-973-4000, they have a recording (available in English and Spanish) The recording once agian confirms that they will guide you through the airline hiring process. But of course, you must send them $35.00 first. No checks, they accept money orders and check this out...they accept cash.

Guess what you get for your 35 bucks? Basic info on how to submit a resume and that is all. You can get your money back, but only if you get a refund confirmation number. Guess what there is no phone number to contact an actual person. So all we have is a P.O. BOX #, so I'm starting with the Postal Inspector. Update ya later.

Oh anyone else?

American Careers is here to help you.

AUTHOR: Yvonne Foxworth - (United States of America)

OK folks, please let me try to shed a little light on this thread.

First off, my name is Yvonne Foxworth. I'm a Career Counselor at American Careers (NYC offices).  For the doubters out there, I must say sorry for any confusion or misconceptions about us, but we certainly are NOT a scam. I've been here for 6 yrs. Indeed, I'm very happy with the results I have personally obtained from the many Applicants I've assisted to gain employment at various airports/airlines across the USA. Success stories with many different types of Positions, at varying pay rates, anywhere from $14 to $22 / hour.

Regarding our Service, we simply assist Applicants obtain employment through the information that we email/mail them to get them started with the Application Process. We then follow up with phone support via our Career Counselors to assist them in every aspect of the Application Process (Application, Resume, Cover Letters, Thank You Letters, Interviewing Techniques, etc) through our Airline Career Development Guide & our Airline Hiring Update, which includes current listings of Airline Positions & descriptions which the Applicant may then apply for at various Airlines. We will attempt to obtain as many interviews for the Applicant as we possibly can. The $39 one-time fee we charge is refundable in the event we are unable to obtain employment
for the Applicant. Details are included in the paperwork the Applicant receives.

This is a vast amount of information & assistance which may potentially require many hours to perform individually. This Service
will soon be available to Applicants via a new website now under construction:

http://www.ripoffreport.com/www.AmericanCareersJobs.com

We have many success stories here with regard to Applicants who have taken the time & effort to read / follow the instructions
listed in our Program, and have indeed obtained employment at various Airports across the USA. Obtaining employment takes time and effort.  If Applicants are not willing to follow instructions or contact us for help, we can't possibly assist in those efforts. I will gladly personally assist anyone out there in their efforts to obtain employment. Please feel free to view our BBB review in MD.

I got a job.

AUTHOR: Madeline - (United States of America)

I am not sure of what the person above is talking about.  American Careers doesn't ask for cash, and they don't do anything in Spanish, and one added note, they do have a phone number in which to contact them.  Oh yeah, and they aren't a scam.  They helped me to obtain employment.  I used their program and am very satisfied.

You could pay the $35

AUTHOR: brownin329 - (United States of America)

Or...you could just apply directly to the airports you want for free.

I am glad that there is a site like this because I was about to apply but when I heard the voice message on the number I called I immediately sensed it was a scam and did some research. I sensed it was a scam because they said you could send cash. That does not sound legit. I'd report it to the BBB of your state if you were scammed.

I have used American Careers

AUTHOR: GotIt - (United States of America)

What is your definition of a scam?  Mine is when I pay for a product and don't get anything from a company or a service.  I see so many people on here complaining, yet have any one of you ever called the phone number?  Have anyone of you actually listened to what you are getting?  I did, and I have been very pleased with my purchase.  I called the phone line and sent in my money order for $35.00.  I  called 411 to get the phone number for American Careers so that I could speak with a representative, to see if they got my information and money.  I was told that they would check and call me back.  They called me back within a couple of days and said that they had my information and that they would be sending out some information to me within a few days.  I got the information 4 days later.  I sat down and read the packet that they sent me and called a representative (Kevin).  He helped me with knowing that I should set my sites on.  I had a lot of help from the services of American Careers.  You know, they didn't promise me a job, they said that they would guide me to finding a job.  This is not a scam.  Work hard, and you can find a job just like I did.

Ultimately, I think that if you are crazy enough to believe that you can get a job for $35.00 then you need to have a reality check.  If you listen, follow directions, and work hard you can accomplish anything.  People whine scam, because they don't want to work, they don't want to read, they don't want to call and take the time and effort that is really needed in getting a job.

Currently Advertising

AUTHOR: erinm - (United States of America)

If this company is in fact a scam they are currently advertising on indeed.com and jobs.com with same concept.  So beware! Also, can police investigate them to see if there real. Maybe be a good idea if they are in fact criminals.  It would be nice if i live person answered and it's sketchy they don't and the money up front thing is sketchy since thats usually a bad sign. I wish someone would investigate this more and get them to stop if there up to no good!

I went with American Careers

AUTHOR: Alanna777 - (United States of America)

I have had tremendous help from American Careers.  I was skeptical about the whole process of calling a phone number and sending in money.  I mean without a job $35.00 is a lot of money.  I figured since I was protected by sending in a money order because I have the power to change my mind.  I sent my money in to 2020 Pennsylvania Ave, NW Room # 348 Washington, DC 20006.  I waited for about a week and a half and then I got a package in the mail.  I read through the package and called the number that they left for me.  I spoke with a guy named Kevin.  He was very helpful, he told me the airlines that I needed to look into to find a job.  I even found out that he had worked for the airlines....so this guy knows what he is talking about.  He followed through with everything that he told me.  I now have a job at Laguardia working for United Airlines.  I get nice benefits as well as breaks with my job.  I know what a scam is and this company isn't one.  So, unless you have tried this service as I have don't say what you don't know!

American Careers, Inc

AUTHOR: btoscar1 - (United States of America)

It is so sad and shameful that people set out to take advantage of those who are struggling and trying to keep their heads above water. Some people are desperate enough to try this out because the need is so great. But even in that you must have common sense and trust your instincts if something feels wrong to you. If it seems too good to be true then it usually is. Research what scams are and how they operate so you won't be taken advantage of and taken for the money that you do have. This is the address that I have for American Careers, Inc 2020 Pennsylvania Ave, NW,#348 Washington DC 20006. Phone # 202-973-4000. A Norman Peterson was named as the HR Manager. Post ID # 2763199161. Just like the others who have stated here I just received an automated recording with instructions on how to get this hiring process started and the cost of $35 to get the process started.

Stop the Lies!

AUTHOR: Solow - (United States of America)

You must have been put up to posting this bullsh!t by American Careers.  First, you said you found a job through them and if that was true, why would need to come to ripoffreport?  Second, you didn't speak to anyone named Brian because there are NO live agents on any of the phone numbers they provide.  Now, take your sorry azz back home and STFU and find somewhere else to post your lies.

Get the facts.

AUTHOR: Callie - (United States of America)

Hello all my name is Callie.  I have been searching for a job for over a year.  I am well educated and have been down on my luck since getting laid off.  I worked with an unemployment agency who directed me to American Careers.  I called their number and listened to their message.  I haven't had success with any other avenue so I thought that I would give this company a try.  I sent my $35 money order in and got a packet.  I got a lot of helpful pointers on what airlines were hiring and how to go about getting prepared for the interview.  I read all of the information that was supplied for me and still had more questions so I called the number that American Careers provided for me.  I spoke with a man named Brian.  He was very helpful in helping me to apply to the airlines of my choice and helped me to prepare for the interview.  I am now working full time for Delta Airlines and could not be happier with my decision to take a chance with $35 dollars.  Not everyone out there is a rip off.  I hope that people will get their facts straight so that people like me can continue to find the help that we need.

I always hit *67 before calling a number like that.  Many times there is a caller information capture program on that type of line.  In other words, you may end up on a call list just by calling the number.  This one has SCAM written all over...which I THINK is what Rose was trying to say.  BTW, Rose, perhaps you could find a job a bit more easily if you learned to type in understandable English and maybe even tried Punctuation.  Just a thought.
