I went to American Freight on Sunday, June 14, 2008 and purchased a dinette table with 6 chairs. I paid $1,062.87. This was a marble top table with 6
chairs. I was told the for 95.00 I could get delivery and set up. But they did not have 2 of the chairs in stock but I would receve the in about a week. I
stressed to the salesperson Brian that I did not want to have to put this set together myself. He asured me that for 95.00 it could be set up by the delivery
men. I did receive the delivery on Monday, but when they arrived at 8:30 PM with a truck full to the max and the driver saw that I lived on the second floor, he did nothing but complain about how heavy the table was and wasn't told that he had to take it to the second floor. I then discussed with him about the set up. He said oh not we have a truck full of stuff to deliver and he was
contractor and they had no right to qoute a set up charge to me. He said this should be a $150.00 charge. I told him that I was told 95.00 and if he was not
going to set it up than he could put it back on the truck and take it back. He then told me that they would not give my money back. I told him that if I don't
have a table they would have to give me back my money. The second delivery man said he would come back the next day and put it together for 50.00. I told him
that I had a qoute and he should get the other 25.00 from the store and I told the driver that I was told that deliver was 70.00 and that was all he would get
until the set was set up. Since the store closed at 8:00 I could not contact anyone there until the next day. My husband then removed the box from the table
the following day and found that there were only 2 legs and both had gouges and scatches on them. I couldn't call the store until 12:00 noon. I spoke with Brian and explained the problem with the set up and the missing legs and the 2 damaged ones. I did find out from my mother who lives on the first floor that they dropped the table 3 times getting it out of the truck. My conversation with Brian was that if he was going to charge 50.00 for the set up I was going to give him the 25,00 and they should deal with how he was to get the additional 25.00. On Tuesday I still had this marble table leaning against my sink and my kitchen a mess and no set up or the missing legs. I have now talked to them every day and today is thursday. My last conversation was with the Manager James who gave me the phone number of the delivery person who was to put this
set together. My kitchen is still a mess, I can't cook, do my dishes and I am very stressed. If I had heard about the problems with this company I would never have done business with them. I do know that I will never do it again.
That's the last they will see of me and I intend to spread the word to everyone I can. I am not going to take this sitting down or standing which is what I
have to do in my kitchen until this is settled. I would think any company would satisfy their customers if the want them to continue to do business. This company is American Freight at 4782 Muhlhauser Road, Fairfield, Ohio 45011 and they have not heard the last of me.
