American Home Shield AHS ANY EXCUSE TO DENY A CLAIM
After 12+ years of making payments to this company for warranty service on my home, we finally decided to call on a faulty shower valve that we have been fighting with since we moved into the house. We put off this call because we know that wall would have to be torn into. The technician came out and said that a piece of the valve was broke off and missing. AHS denied the claim due to "missing parts". No one would listen to the fact that the part was not missing, a piece was broken and the piece was missing!
They continually denied the claim after several calls and no matter who we talked to...continually stating that if parts are missing they do not have to replace the valve. The piece missing on the valve is the on/off stop so the finding the right "spot" to get it to turn completely off is almost impossible thus causing it to leak most of the time.
They also refused the repair on the outside valves that needed new washers because their contract says that hose bibs are not covered and the contractor stated that the hose bib's were leaking not the valve washers. The contractor had already performed the work before calling AHS because he too that the work to replace the washers was covered.
In my opinion, AHS will find any excuse to deny a claim.
