The only education I got from this school was that they were a total rip-off and to carefully read all the small print. Know what your getting into before you get too far! And the 5 week courses were a joke! For the kind of money that was being spent, I expected better.
The first problem I encountered was the pushing and cajoling to be addmitted into their program. At first I was reluctant and didn't think I really wanted to take online classes. I must have told them NO several times. As an example I explained repeatedly-and to anyone who would listen, which turned out to be no one-that I have never taken algebra before and would have no idea of what to do. But in the end, I agreed and started classes.
Of the instructors that I did have, before I was able to wrench myself free of that nightmare, some of them would work with the students and woud do
what was needed to help the student pass the class. Then there was, for example, the instructor for the algebra class that told me to use the online lab, which was worse than useless. (There was at least one other student that was having trouble with it and felt as I did).
Then, when I tried to get out of the class and the school, lo and behold! the student advisor that was supposed to help me was unavailable and I couldn't reach any one else! Little did I know that I made the mistake of attending classes anyway to try to give it my best shot and the school policy is that if you attend the class you will be charged for it. So I now have an "F" on my permanent record.
Bottom line is-I DIDN' T WANT TO GO IN THE FIRST PLACE!! And what amazes me is that I keep getting emails from them to come back or to attend as if I haven't already!
I would like to join in the class action lawsuit if I can. I would also like to get more information about it.

Baseless Claim...Sounds Like Buyers Remorse

These baseless claims do absolutely nothing but tarnish the reputation of many hard working students earning their degree while working full time. Many working professionals like me have attended AIU and have significantly enhanced our professional development in our chosen fields. My experience has been positive with advancement by my employer after completing my M.Ed. degree. The program of study greatly enhanced my abilities to perform my job as it was more in tune with the latest changes in the training industry whereas many traditional universities lag behind the current trends.
You ent to AIU because the Admissions Rep would not quit calling. I knows this first hand and believe you should file a class action law suit for fraudulent admission practices and furthermore for punitive damages. Yes you may have signed some admission documents but you also let the Admission advisor know you were not interested in applying for admissions you were forced and this is fraudulent admission practices. The School as a whole should not exist it is a complete ripoff you would be better off going to a reputable school like the University of Denver, Colorado State, or University of Colorado and getting the quality education you deserve.
If you are going to file a class action lawsuit against AIU please let me know I will join you my e-mail address is (((ROR redacted)))

So why did you go????

OK, if you're mature enough to attend college, you should be mature enough to say "No" and hang up the phone (or delete the email). You sound as if you have a good handle on what you do and do not want, so why let them push you into a class you weren't ready for, in an environment you didn't want?
There is no rip off here, only a dissatisfied customer. Why is everyone screaming about class action law suits? AIU may have been unscrupulous, but YOU were the one who signed up. I'm sorry, but this one is on you.
