Buyer Beware: Before you get into an ambulance, get a written estimate of cost. My ambulance trip for a non-emergency matter was $889.89 (20 mile trip one-way), I could have flown there for that amount!

Be sure to have them sign a sheet accepting your insurance coverage as full payment of their bill. Otherwise, take a cab or pay someone $100.

I too filed a report regarding this company.
They drove less than 3 miles to a hospital and charged $2,700.00

Taxi

AUTHOR: Dave - (United States of America)

By now you might have realized that the ambulance is white with red and blue lettering, and a taxi is usually yellow.  However by the way you have stated your problem you must not understand the difference between the two.

An ambulance is for transporting Pt's who are sick or injured and need highly trained medical personnel to attend to them.  A taxi gives you a ride, and maybe a conversation.

That being said if all you needed was a ride the taxi would have been a better choice, not only for you but for the ambulance crew as well.  When you take an ambulance out of service for a BS reason like "I dont have a car but need a ride to my scheduled appointment"  that leaves a true emergency possibly unprotected.

You deserve that bill as it cost money to operate those big shinny trucks and pay those highly trained personnel.  Maybe next time you will call the taxi.

Ummmm

AUTHOR: Susan - (U.S.A.)

Why did you call an ambulance for a non emergency and expect it to be free or covered by insurance?

If you needed a ride you should have called a cab.
