American Memorial Life Insuyrance Dignity FRAUD, Scam, Con Artist Rapid city, South Dakota

The local funeral home conned my mother into buying a burial poilicy when she already had a trust fund burial policy that she had paid on for 4 years. They took $350.00 a month from her checking account formy dad and her. in addition $150.00 a month for the original burial policy. When my mother saw that she couldn't afford the policy Sheila Mize told her that her original policy trust fund had been canceled and all the money went toward a down payment on the new policy and that she would losse all the money and have no burial insurance. Ms. Mize who works for dignity in Gardendale, Alabama did not tell my 83 year old mom and 88 year old dad that there was a two year contestable clause.

My mother died exactly in an accident one year from the date Ms. Mize sold her the policy. the policvy had caused a lot of stress and financial hardship. when my family went to plan my mother's funeral, Ms.Mize was in the room with us and never said a word about the other policy. we found out about it when we went to the cemetary because she had bought it from the funeral home there. they were kind enough  to let us pay the last two months and out it in my dad's name. Just prior to my mother's funeral i was asked to sign a form stating that i would pay for any debt because I was the "benefacter" (?) A few weeks later American Memorial began demanding a signature to allow them to access my mother's records so they could deny the claim.

This is a win win situation for them because if a person pays on the policy for two years they will have paid in the policy amount plus it is a tacky funeral which they make a huge profit out of anyway. these con artist target the elderly and they know the dead can't speak for themselves and will tell the family anything. I filed a complaint with BBB and then to the State Dept. Adrian Heaven ( yes, these people are creepy, the man i talked to sounded like Boris Karloff as Dracula) had no choice to pay up and even refunded the money my dad had paid because I had all the documents and caught them red handed. plus I was furious that they had mistreated my mother.
