I was a student at API until 10/2/12 where i was dismissed with only four weeks left til externs. I had an issue with an Instructor that had several complaints filed against her and a whole class that walked out on her. I too filed a complaint on this instructor. Making the learning environment unbearable. Singling out students that she did not like. Rolling her eyes when i would ask a question to her favorite students and trust me she made it obvious and apparent. I had a total of three episodes with this teacher which with the first the program director asked me to be the bigger person and apologize to her which reluctantly i did. She didn't even have the decency to look at me while i did so. The next incident started when i had her again for another mod. The treatment i endured became unbearable leading to a melt down and a conformation between both of us. Which she was wrote up for and i wrote a letter to confirm what had happened and how she makes it impossible to learn. The next confrontation we had was when i came back to school and asked for my finals that she had not graded and gave us yet. She handed me my finals. I looked at my grades walked into my classroom and said something to my classmates. The next thing i know she is in the door of my class running her mouth to me. I say whatever and go to my seat. When later i am pulled into the directors office yelled at sent home for the day then giving a call that i was being dismissed. I really couldn't tell you that if i was there for these last four weeks and sent out for extern do i feel like i was trained properly to do this job. I wish that i would have looked into API before i signed onto such an expensive school. I wanted to turn my life around. The way they treat their students is outrageous. They make you feel like you are a child. I am older if not the same age as some of these instructors. The only experience that these instructors are expected to have to teach is two years as an MA... that's it...I can't go anywhere else to get this certification because of the debt i have acquired. API really only cares about the money. They could care less if you are being trained and walk away with a job. Its an expensive lesson to learn and i only hope i can help someone else not make the same mistake as i did. I started out 9 months ago with a dream and four weeks left into this journey they drop me. Please someone tell me there is something i can do. I am a single mom trying to better my life and my kids. Now i am more in debt and worse off than i was.
