We purchased a bonded leather sectional set for our family room and had it delivered in September of 2012. We were replacing a set that had lasted us 9 years, and looking for a little upgraded look at the same time. Because we also intended this set to last us several years, we purchased a warranty to cover any stains or damages for 7 years. With the furniture came a cre kit with instructions on cleaning and conditioning the leather so it would last. We folllowed all those instructions and cleaned it regularly just as suggested with the care kit. However, After less than 6 months it is flaking apart. There are literally small chunks of leather now missing in places and several undescribable holes that have opened in the material across several sections fo the set. We have a 6 year old vinyl futon in our teenagers game room that we purchased at Big Lots, that is in better condtion than the 6 month old leather furniture we purchased at American Signature Furniture. ..... For the past three months we have been trying to contanct American signature and get this resolved. On 2-16 I was told by a customer service rep that it would be taken care of. They sent a tech out to look at the damage. The tech gave a gasp when he saw it and told me he had never seen such a thing. I waited a few weeks for a response and got nothing, so I called and was told they could not do anything and to call the warranty company. The warranty company denied the claim because they said the damage was not reported soon enough. We have been pased back and forth between American signature and the warranty company Uniters and neither company will take repsonsiblity for the garbage they sold me. Of course Garbage was not my word, it was the word used by a manager at American Signature to describe the furniture. He said if he waranteed it he "would have to throw it away as garbage". Another manager told me they had zero returns on thier products. I now believe that is because they simply don't take returns. If you are shopping for furniture, I would recommend you avoid this company as well as Uniters North America. Both will take your money and then pass the blame when you try to claim any damages. Please do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

i have had the same problem that you have but , my "fake " leather sofa started to peel apart from the backing material. uniters of north america said it was not covered becouse i said it was peeling and not ripping apart, if i said it was ripping it would have been covered. i have contacted american signature over the same problem and they offer to give me a store credit of 1/4 of what i paid which was a joke. uniters of north america like to hide behind the misleading words of the people that sell their warranty and will do anything in their power not to pay out a claim.
