American Transmissions & Auto Repair, South Cooper Street, Arlington, TX.   Daren mechanic and Joe the owner told me and my girlfriend that we where getting a new rebuilt engine for a 2004 jeep and that it would cost us $3800. When we went to pay and pick up the jeep. they put in a used savage jeep engine from the junk yard that had even 15k more miles on it then our old engine. We even called 3 or 4 other locations to get a price quote. Even thought they where going to be a little higher price then the other places we called, we decided since it was already there we would just get the work done there. When we go to pick up the 2004 Jeep, they tell us they put a used 100k mile savage engine in not a rebuilt and told us we never asked for a rebuilt engine. Then they tell us to pay or else they will keep the jeep.. So, we paid by credit card and will just dispute the charges. Then we call some savage yards and find out we can buy a used 100k mile jeep engine for $425 to $750. They also would not give us the old engine back and said there was a core charge. Theirs only a core charge for rebuilt engines if you don't give them the old engine so they can rebuild the old engine. This place is a ripp off and lied to me, my girlfriend and her daughter.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

This report is totally inaccurate

AUTHOR: Joe - ()

First, let me say that we have been in business for more than 10 years here in Texas and we would never have been successful in our market if we treated customers as this person says we did.

First and foremost: The customer that entered into the agreement with us to repair HER car is not the person that filed this report. This person (a boyfriend or male acquaintance of some sort) only became involved after the car was ready and then proceeded to give his opinion of the work we had done.

We sell used engines, rebuilt engines and brand new engines as part of our services; all with different pricing. We took great care in our conversations with the original customer (female) and explained exactly the type of motor she would be getting. She accepted and understood what she was getting and knew how much it would cost.

It's a shame that she was led astray by this male acquaintance of hers that was undoubtedly trying to impress her with his knowledge (after the fact) and giving her advice on what she should have done.  This man had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and was never involved until the job was finished.

It's not fair that our honesty and integrity is called into question because of some less-than-genuine 3rd party! He interjected himself into a transaction that he knew nothing about and all he was doing was trying to impress a woman.

We just hope that by now, she knows just what kind of character her "man" has and that she understands that filing false "ripoff reports" on honest hard working small businesses will only make her look bad, not us.

We will always go the extra mile to make our customers happy and we've done that for more than a decade.

Sincerely,

The Owner
