Typical start to the american story, divorced starting over and making Bad Choices that take a toll on your credit rating. This is where I end up with a car loan financed by Americredit, during the process I am assured more then once that if I make my payments on time I can refinance the car to get a lower interest rate (current was 18%) but I had the new car blues and really wanted it, 6 months in to the loan that is being paid on time I loose my job. I call Americredit,, they won't refinance, they won't try to lower the payments or the interest rate, will not cooperate at any level. They suggest trying to find another loan company, I tell the idiot on the line, I'm unemployed what loan company is going to work with that, the money hungry machines response, "Not their problem" make the payments or they'll come get the car. So it's keep a roof over my head or keep the car so that I can find a new job, give up eating all together,, choices,, thanks to this uncooperative, humanless machine I was forced in to a Chapter 13 bankruptcy in order to keep the car and a roof over my head. 5 years later my credit in the toilet, because you can't finance or get credit while in a chapter 13, so now when I have a good job and want to buy a home I can't because the mortgage companies see numbers not people and circumstance. BEWARE stay away from the humanless money grubbing machine that calls itself AMERICREDIT.

Finally Truth about Americredit...

AUTHOR: Charles - (U.S.A.)

They arent the best loan company for sure but they are one of the better high risk loan companies. I agree with everything else you said. It's simple, pay on time, and ahead if you can, and you wont have any problems. If you fall behind you will get calls and your car could get repoed which they have every right to do. Pay your loan on time and no matter how bad you want a new car, don't get one if you know you cant afford it.

Americredit can be scary, if you don't make payments

AUTHOR: Jeannekathleen - (U.S.A.)

I have read all of the responses on here and while I know Americredit is bad, it is not the worst company out there for auto loans. Albeit, it is not the best either, but certainly a far cry from the worst.

I was a victim of identity theft from 1990 (When I was 8 years old) up to around 2000 (when I turned 18). As a result, my credit was pretty shot for awhile (it is much improved now due to my sending proof af age, etc, but still has not recovered from this) and most places would not even think about financing me, even with good credit history on my credit cards. When it came time to buy a new(er) car after college, Americredit and a loan with 18% interest was my only feasible option. Since no one in my family was able to co-sign, I was on my own. My dealership got me financed through americredit, and though we all knew the interest was astronomical, I took the loan anyway, as my old car was a junker needing 1200 worth of worth just to PASS INSPECTION.

In the year and a half that I have been with americredit, I have not once had a problem. I make my payments early (even borrowing money from my family or my boyfriend if need be)and have never not had a payment posted--they even sent me the title as I am a New York State resident.

Americredit seems to be pretty flexible, so long as you make your payments. The bottom line is as long as you attmpt to pay, you will never have a problem with them. It is true that the interest is high, but they financed you when others would not.

worthless company that calls itself AMERICREDIT

AUTHOR: Greg - (U.S.A.)

This company BLOWS!!!
I had bad credit and used Americredit to finance my truck, which was paid off as according to our contract and on time.
These idiots never sent me a title or even a letter saying account was paid in full.
This came to my attention when I tried to resell my truck recently and realized that the white copy of title given to me was not transferrable.
The Ohio title bureau told me that Americredit still held a lien on my vehicle although it has been paid off for over 4 YEARS NOW!
Of coarse when I called for help or find out what had happened I was told the loan was paid off and title was sent.THAT NEVER HAPPENED.
So I basically had to plead with the idiot that took my call to send a letter stating that AMERICREDIT was paid in full so I can hopefully get a title in my name.
This company not only preys on the less fortunate it treats them like s**t whether or not you make good on your loan.
KISS MY A** AMERICREDIT.
