I started classes on February 11, 2002 at the Charlotte, N.C. branch and was very unsatisfied with the training I received. The instructors spent most of the class time taking smoke breaks and rambling on about learning important stuff later. They stated that the material was to granular and we would have to come back to it later sometime during the duration of the class.

We skipped a lot of material that was VERY important and need to be covered. I myself had to buy extra books just to read and learn myself because the books they provided were so out of date.

In all honesty, I learned all the material without the instructors help. As far as my learning is concerned, I along with a few other students would get together after class and try to learn the material ourselves. We did this until the doors closed. The story goes like this.

One day we were meeting at Ameritrain as usual and we noticed that the doors were locked. We tried to enter from the back door but couldn't because they had changed the lock code on the door. After this we looked in through the window and noticed that everything had been moved out, I then became suspicious.

I tried calling different Ameritrain offices and was blown off several times. I did however get to leave 13 messages on Steven Gouvea (V.P. and General manager of AmeriTrain) answering machine that were never returned.

I have done everything in my power to contact Ameritrain but have been unsuccessful. What ever I try to do they just blow me off by lying. I have been told 4 different stories about The Charlotte, N.C. branch. After all of this I decided to take to to Sallie Mae ( my loaning agency ) and stated the problems I was having with Ameritrain.

They told me they would look into it and get back with me. Well, just the other day I tried calling Sallie Mae and they have no clue what Ameritrain is up to. They stated that they could not get Ameritrain to call them back. I believe that Ameritrain is lying to Sallie Mae as well.

I made a comment back to what Steven had said about me and Kevin not to anyone else. You didn't get pointed out. So if you feel that he done a good job with teaching you thats fine. We were done as everyone else. The classes were not what was told to us in the beginning and we put faith in it and keep trying.

Yes we finished the class But because we was giving it a chance and how would we not have known if we would have just given up in the beginning.I admit I know nothing about computers But does that make me any dumber. They told us before we started at the seminar that YOU didn't have to know anything about computers anyone could do it SO don't sit and say we didn't try YOU were not there on our Hour trips back while we were helping each other to study.

Everyone situation was diffrent. Now we shouldn't be fighting against each other we are suppose to be here to help one another SO everyone stop taking your anger out on everyone We don't know eachothers situations.

Vent your anger on trying to get something done with Ameritrain.They are the ones that done it to us NOT your Instructors. WE ALL NEED TO GROW UP!!!! so stop pointing the fingers and lets get something done We are all in this together. Angela

I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT STEVEN CRANE WAS MY INSTRUCTOR AND I DONT HAVE ANY OF THE PROBLEMS YOU PEOPLE HAVE.

AS FAR AS READING GOES WHEN YOU WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL DIDNT YOU HAVE TO READ OVER THE LESSON AND READ IN ADVANCE?

AS FAR AS THE SMOKE BREAKS I ONLY REMEMBER HIM TAKE ABOUT 3 OR SO AND THE CLASS WOULD GO DOWNSTAIRS WITH HIM AND DISCUSS WHAT WE WENT OVER.

IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT YOU PEOPLE DIDNT PUT FORTH THE EFFORT NEEDED FOR ANY TYPE OF AN EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT.

I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE BACK AND TELL ME HOW STUPID I AM AND HOW I DONT KNOW ANYTHING AND ALL THAT BS BUT STEVEN CRANE MADE d**n SURE I KNEW MY STUFF I GOT MY HANDS ON AND HE STILL HELPS ME TODAY SO QUIT CRYING SUCK UP AND DEAL WITH THE SAME SITUATION THAT ALL THE REST OF US ARE DEALING WITH AT LEAST YOU GOT THROUGH YOUR CLASSES.

Misunderstanding

This is a rebuttal to the instructor that posted the last message. I am deeply sorry for the misunderstanding for which has taken place. In fact, you were NOT the instructor in which I was speaking of. You were one of the instructors that I respected. This may make certain instructors angry but what the hell, I am here to set the record straight. You were the only one who would set aside your lunch break to help me along with the others students. Anytime that we were in need of help you were there for us. I remember several instances that I can recall that you gave 110% effort in your classroom. The Four horsemen hold nothing against you. We see you as one of us, just a victim of Ameritrain. You were an OUTSTANDING instructor. We know that you would have done anything for us.

As you know, we are not computer illiterate. We just have trouble from time to time understanding more advanced concepts of networking. There is a great deal to learn and as you can see, we put an enormous amount of time into the class. For instance, We attended class everyday and put pretty much ALL of our free time into using the facility.

Every free moment we had, we were at Ameritran but that all changed when it was taken away from us. We have stuck together but we have no way of really learning in a ( hands on environment) any longer. Sure, we can read the books but the hands on concept is the main reason why I paid all that money for classes. I do not blame you for the troubles I have had at Ameritrain. In fact, you were the one that made the troubles disappear. If I did have the opportunity to take the class again, I would take it under your instruction over someone elses.

In great confidence, I can say that you are a credit to your field. If I were to have someone working on my network, I would feel extremely confident having you do the work. As far as the other instructors, I felt that they knew the material but didnt take their job as an instructor seriously. They knew all the material but didnt care if the students picked it up. Im sure theyre great as IT professionals but just not excellent instructors. To be honest, I was extremely worried after taken my first class ( Under another instructor ). I felt though as if I was learning all the material myself and if I were to ask a question, I would be ridiculed for not already knowing the answer. I did read the material but sometime books are not always the answer.

As you stated, Ameritrain provided books that were out of date. I came to realize this as class moved along and the instructors had to correct the book errors. Granted, I did ask a lot of questions but there again, thats why I paid money to take classes. I hope none of you take offence for that is not my objective. I am just stating that I have a few problems with Ameritrain and its business practices. So, to end this rebuttal, I am stating that I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

I never meant for ( this certain instructor that I see as a friend ) to read this report and believe that it was he in which I was speaking of. I hope that you read this and we remain friends for times to come. I feel for all of us that have been shafted by Ameritrain. I wish everyone Good luck who has been taken advantage of by Ameritrain and that the ( Almighty ) lawsuit that we are bringing will prevail.

WOW!!! When Did All This Start Happening????

Steven, I would just like to know when all this started with Ameritrain? Was me and Kevin the beginning? I really don't think so as a matter of fact I believe it started ALONG time ago! as far as us quitting the school "HELL" the school quit us before we even began. We attended EVERY class, except, I quote "3" and one was due to BAD weather but not our fault the others were I had to have an Operation that caused me not to be able to attend. But however, we asked to make the classes up BUT were told "we did not have to" but to just "READ" is what you told us to do. What was we suppose to just read "out of date books"? Was it our fault that we drove over an hour one way to attend because we wanted to better our lives as well because we put trust in the school and BELEIVED what we were told before we even signed up. Wasn't it you that told us That the books were "Out of date"? Wasn't it you that told us that you didn't even teach the A+/Net+ class you usually taught MCSE classes?. Let me tell you something we had and still have just as much Leg to stand on as with everyone else because as far as WE were told we have up to "YEAR TO FINISH OUR CLASSES" and the year isn't over. Ameritrain was a RIP OFF and I am sorry that it took everyone else a little longer to find it out But we were in the process of trying to get something done. Even Joe knew we got treated bad. I assume by reading all this here at Bad Business site that somewhere down the line Everyone was upset with how thet were Instructed. As far as the Band Wagon you need to get your stuff straight We didn't jump on No band Wagon we already had our stuff being taken care of when the school closed down Because the Poor Jerks in PA. can't face up to the Music that their so called AMERITRAIN sucks!!!! We never said anything about you being a bad person the classes were just Poorly misinformed and mis-represented. I think Everyone is makeing the same Statement as we had in the beginning The reading material was changed for the A+/Net+ classes on our last couple of days of our classes back in January We had to buy them if we wanted them. Now how did all this stuff just happen if the books were changed? Why would everyone complain about haveing "Out Dated Books" when they should of had the new books. I guess some people thats complaining now, must of started back when we did. So don't say we were not done just like everyone else was because we were. Ameritrain Ripped us all off NOT you. I hope that your still not working for them and I hope you didn't know this was going on when it was. How sorry that would be. Angela

Hello Chad,

I sat by and watched the reports pour in on this site, and given, a lot of the anger is very well deserved due to the way things are being handled.

This is the first, and hopefully the only, rubuttal that i am making, and i have to say it is because i am beyond shock. Some of the things that some of you are saying about certain employees (Charlotte location) go beyond the anger issue.

I myself am an employee of Ameritrain. I am the IT instructor that supposedly did not help you learn a thing in your last class, "In all honesty, I learned all the material without the instructors help". I suppose that I also didn't help you, or others on my lunch hours while i was teaching other classes for almost fourteen hours straight?

Was it not me that was standing by your side when you passed your A+ tests? congratulating you with cheers (i was not your instructor for that class)? I think i specifically remember days being there so you could work on the lab when you didn't even know it was my day off.

I don't expect a single bit of sorrow or sympathy for i do not deserve it. Yet, i do give it to those that do. You also are one that i feel do deserve it along with Karen, who i hold in the highest of hearts, and am extremely sorry that i didn't open my eyes to a specific conversation we had.

What i do deserve is a little respect, for i have sat and seen nothing but bold face lies being written about me day after day. You don't state names, but i am grouped in to the obvious SHOTTY INSTRUCTORS group. Was it not you, and your classmates that signed, and allowed me to hang on my wall "Worlds Greatest Tech Kindergarden Teacher Cerificate"? Let the anger go where it is deserved.

I also want to rebut against another statment you made, and i will step back when i find out different. The statement is " We skipped a lot of material that was VERY important and need to be covered. Have you taken a Microsoft test yet? I'm going to guess no, so how would you know what you were given wasn't important? Should i have held your adult hand 100%, and given you nothing more than what you seem to be looking for? The answers to the tests? (extra reading is always needed or did your college proffesors not stress that?) And the books... were they not the current MCSE press book sets out?

I am sorry for the anger i have shown in this letter but you of all people should think about who you are writing about before you write. Did you not think i would see your ripoffreport?

I still remain your friend, even in my anger, but i can no longer put up with the libel that has been written about me time after time.

To all you students in the Charlotte region... I stand up for myself, and can be reached through (Tom in Charlotte) if there is anything you would like to say to me personally.

By the way... Kevin and Angela, Kevin especially, out of all the students that went to and still are at Ameritrain; you haven't a leg to stand on. You quit the school six months ago (before the said problems were occuring) demanding your money back, and rubbing my name in the dirt in the process.

I am sorry it wasn't as easy as you thought it was going to be. You lied in anyway you could. I still have email from Angela and letters from other students that disqualifies any argument you may have put up. You just jumped on the bandwagon. The other students were forced into a situation you made by choice.

To all my students, my heart is truly with you no matter how angry i may get at times. Please don't forget that i made a promise to teach you and up to date i am still standing by it.

Have you taken a Microsoft test yet? I'm going to guess no, so how would you know what you were given wasn't important? Should i have held your adult hand 100%, and given you nothing more than what you seem to be looking for? The answers to the tests? (extra reading is always needed or did your college proffesors not stress that?) And the books... were they not the current MCSE press book sets out?

I am sorry for the anger i have shown in this letter but you of all people should think about who you are writing about before you write. Did you not think i would see your ripoffreport?

I still remain your friend, even in my anger, but i can no longer put up with the libel that has been written about me time after time.

To all you students in the Charlotte region... I stand up for myself, and can be reached through (Tom in Charlotte) if there is anything you would like to say to me personally.

By the way... Kevin and Angela, Kevin especially, out of all the students that went to and still are at Ameritrain; you haven't a leg to stand on. You quit the school six months ago (before the said problems were occuring) demanding your money back, and rubbing my name in the dirt in the process.

I am sorry it wasn't as easy as you thought it was going to be. You lied in anyway you could. I still have email from Angela and letters from other students that disqualifies any argument you may have put up. You just jumped on the bandwagon. The other students were forced into a situation you made by choice.

To all my students, my heart is truly with you no matter how angry i may get at times. Please don't forget that i made a promise to teach you and up to date i am still standing by it.
