We purchased our original Amtrol indirect fire water tank back in 1998. Since then they fail every 2 years. The seal/bolts on the bottom give out. The last one lasted only 2 years (as they all have) but the difference is this time no one in the area is willing to exchange the item without us paying for the tank up front and waiting for the paperwork to be completed for refund. After so many times of this happening we are done jumping through hoops and called Amtrol directly. They tell us that we must not have an expansion tank on the heating system (we do per code) and we have to pay 125.00 shipping to get the unit to us.
Again, we have been paying money up front every 2 years and if Amtrol cared they would do a few things, they would (1) make a product without inferior bolts and (2) ship a replacement free of charge especially after so many times of having to change out the unit.
We have even gone and added a water softener system tin case the water is too hard.
We are in the northeast in the winter and had to relocate to a hotel until this is solved.
