The company charges members a credit ($4 to $8) for each time one reads or sends an email to another member. Then they strike out any personal email address or phone number one has to prevent correspondence outside their credit scheme. It was deeply hidden within the user agreement. It represents a Russian mafia/Soveit KGB approach to reality. No other dating service does this.

Wrong About Anastasia Being Ethical and Legal

AUTHOR: See This - (USA)

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.  I can't believe I am reading such foolishness especially from one called Swordfish90293 - Playa Del Rey (U.S.A.) as this site being ethical and its abuse of the IMBRA.  I am also an long time and I do mean a long time customer of theirs and a I know them inside and out and they cannot at any time tie me up in some argument about being "ethical." because of the vast knowledge I have about them.  All who want to discuss this don't know what I know but I will show you:

1.  Firstly it is expensive and charges per letter whereas there is another site created by a Russian person that charges per month and and in the month you can send any amount of letters to any lady for a price of $16.95 per month versus Anastasia's price per month of 399.00 almost four hundred dollars.  Plus they do not forbid the passage of contact information and many use Skype after to be able to communicate later on with the person and that's done for free!  On Anastasia you are charged 1 credit per minute and after charged 2 credits it the lady puts on her camera.  One person a friend of mines reported that they paid for 20 minutes of chat time and got only 8 minutes of chat time!

2.  Secondly they are not 100% ethical because those who say so are those who are outsiders and do not (DO NOT) Run the site.  Let's then see the so-called ethics from those who do run the site where their lies are exposed!  Example Roger Sears (present operations manager) who was caught in a lie about Elena Matsuk who was well known to anastasiadate.com and committed marriage fraud and is a well known scammer and was allowed on the site by anastasiadate.com which they did deliberately.  Here is his contradiction and the true story about the incident.  Remember he is an Insider (INSIDER) one who runs the company (not some outsider who merely wants to run their mouth)

Roger Sears who is the operations manager (at present) for Anastasiadate.com got exposed when he said that the site did not commit marriage fraud and that was not true because it happened with Elena Matsuk.  Hear is what Roger Sears says in a response he gave on scaminformer.com and compare that with theactual story!

Marriage Fraud

The Ladies on AnastasiaDate.com do not commit marriage fraud.your personal correspondence with this particular lady led to enormous pressure on her to agree to marry you before you even visited her or met her in person

Now here is the actual story from forum.fiance.com with the actual person who dealt with her who goes by the name shaz444. Here is the story and not the LIES that Mr Sears wishes us to buy!

Topic: Another scammer Elena Matsuk (ID: 1104556) (ID from anastasiadate.com)

These are my facts with her:

Corresponded for over 7 months writing deep emotional & hard lettersabout my previous experiences with other girls & how bad it has been already with online dating, so she was my last try & she said she wont let me down.

Had 6 7 long video chats during the period.  Had 10-11 phone conversations.

Decided to meet in Odessa ASAP, but I was waiting to cross check her. She was insisting I come immediately.  I asked her to let me introduce to her parents, all she said they know about you & they think you are nice man.  I asked her for her parents postal address, she said it was broken!!! She hasnt up till now given the real postal address.  I just asked her last Saturday will she sign a legal marriage document when I meet her, she said I would love to.  Guys I am just trying to warn you do your homework before you make any plans going abroad? So I booked my flightand

Orbitz in Polish airline for $1157

Ukraine visa for $142 rush service.

Anastasia Apartments for 11 days for $900

Lawyer in Odessa to process No impediment certificate for marriage to UKR Citizen $180

Travel insurance $50

Car rental for 11 days $650

Guess what was her last letter today when I told her my flight is bookedfor October 28 flying to Odessa 6:53 pm & reaching Odessa in the morning, I got her letter today saying I cant meet you because I have to go with my friend to another country. I hope you understand.  Ok fine emergency do happen, but come on, be rude to me instead keep me hanging on!!! I am human being too????

Ok, now for the costs, I had to cancel everything which I had paid for, Ihave lost about $900 on cancellation charges but I am still keeping my insurance for a later date. She just didnt make me come all the way & waste more money OR most important my time!!!

She said she was going to another country with a friend where she eventually married this friend just so that she could escape her country and leave the person she married behind-Its called marriage fraud. Now blacklisted on a governmental scale its difficult for many to get this lady out of the country if they try to!

So Roger Sears says she was pressured but on the other hand the truth was that she ended up leaving with someone else of her own free will without being pressured causing the man above to waste his money time by abandoning him! So you see how contradictory they are! Now its
one thing to hear it from outsiders but when you see it come from an insider you know you have to better believe it!

One guy who spoke Russian and went to Ukraine found this out and posted a review on no1reviews.com and I post part of his comments here when he was talking to the girls:

"Since I was able to speak the language fluently, I befriended ladies and got to know them pretty well. I also learned from them the "inner workings" of the dating service of "Anastasia." I could NOT believe what I heard...Girls told me that sometimes one girl will write responses to as many as 5 different guys, or even worse another Ukrainian guy will pretend to be a girl when responding to you!! Yikes!"

Ethical Huh?  Yeah Right!

3.  Thirdly they abuse the IMBRA-because they only highlight one part which is the passage of contact information so that they can profit from it with their telephone service where after 5 minutes the charges go up greatly and if you only talk for let's say 3 minutes you get charged the full 5 minutes.  Plus the lady can refuse to give you contact info-it doe not mean that she will just because you call her!

Here is what it says on internationalmarriagebroker.com

"IMBRA requires any for profit, dating service, which primarily facilitates international contacts between Americans and non-Americans, any so called "International Marriage Broker" to perform the following :

A. To conduct a background check at the National Sex Offenders Database, NSOPR.GOV on each American it serves.

B. To ask a list of mandated questions of each American about his marital and criminal background.

C. To request the American to provide court records, police reports, etc
for any conviction or arrest, specified in the mandated questions
list."

Doies Anastasiadate.com do any of this?  NO!  So Anastasiadate.com takes out the part it likes that it knows it can make the most money from and forgets about doing the rest of the parts of the IMBRA.  Therefore by not completely following the IMBRA and only following what they want to follow they are abusing and misusing it only for their own greedy money making purposes i.e. expensive chatting, letters, and phone service and deliveries, etc.!

So please don't come to me and talk to me about anastasiadate.com being ethical and legally right.  This is absolute foolishness from outsiders who do not run the site because we who are long time members of this site know how unethical and at times illegal this site actually and truly is!

Anastasia.com

AUTHOR: USMRecog - (United States of America)

I have used Anastasia.com many times and have several comments:

1) If you join and post a profile, they will mail you stock intro letters from women in your selected age range. It appears that the letters come directly from interested women who have viewed your profile. In reality, they have not. These are stock letters and the woman does not even know you exist. You will pay $8.00 to open their letter. Writing back to them also costs $8.00. If the woman actually reads your letter, this is the first time she has heard of you. So don't be fooled by the volume of mail that comes to you. with women claiming that they want to get to know you.

2) If you choose to communicate directly with any given woman, you must call her using the services of an Anastasia telephone operator. The cost for the cheapest call is $28 (5 minutes). During the call you can ask for the woman's email address, phone number and anything else you like. You will likely be surprised that the woman who wrote you such sweet letters is not so sweet on the phone. In all likelihood it will be apparent that she does not want to speak with you, and may even sound irritated that you called. It is quite likely that she does not want to give you her phone number or email address. She will instead suggest that she take your information and she will call or write to YOU. Good luck. In most cases you will never hear from this woman again.

I advise you to avoid this website. It is very doubtful that the person answering your emails is the woman in the photos. It is also very doubtful that the woman on the phone calls is the same woman who looked so good in the photos. You have no way of knowing and the drastic change in attitude between the letters and the phone calls strongly suggests that you are being scammed! Remember that you are dealing with the former Soviet Union countries and scam artists are rampant.

Even if Anastasia.com has the best intentions, they use various agencies in Russia and Ukraine to line up women for the website. This side of the transaction is out of their control. No one knows who is actually answering the letters or phone calls.

Men, take note. This is not 1989. Most gorgeous stunning women from Eastern Europe are particularly interested in meeting you. They have plenty of attention in their home countries. Life is not particularly bad there and most would not consider giving up family, friends, and country to relocate to the USA unless the proposal were incredibly sweet.

If you must look abroad, try a different service. Anastasia.com is a waste of time and money. The site should have a disclaimer that reads: "FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. THE WOMEN DEPICTED HERE ARE NOT REAL".

Good Luck and Godspeed

#3 UPDATE Employee

Anastasia's approach is ethical, transparent and legal...

AUTHOR: Swordfish90293 - (U.S.A.)

As one consumer on this forum posted, all Anastasia's fees and practices are clearly posted up front on-site. Every dating site, E-Harmony, Match.com and Anastasia charges in some form. Anastasia would not be one of the largest international dating sites if she did not operate in a fair market, up front and legal manner.

As an American company Anastasia is subject to the International Marriage Broker's Act (IMBA). The law states that a U.S. agency may not divulge or deal in personal information without first obtaining extensive documentation concerning that individual including criminal records and other private data. Anastasia feels this would violate an individual's right to privacy. Instead, we allow the personal exchange of information during a phone or other live format conversation between two consenting parties involved. This has been Anastasia's policy since well before the IMBA was enacted and continues as a cornerstone of Anastasia's policy.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

The policy is in the front page of Anastasia's FAQ, easy to detect

AUTHOR: Siamak - (Norway)

As it is mentioned in the report this is their policy and may be difficult to notice it but it is there. I used couple of minutes and found this in their Support/Help.

As they say it is easy to establish private contact with the girls (explained under).

_________Written in HELP section__________
http://www.anastasiaweb.com/login/default.aspx?page=CSQuestionAnswerView&id=27
How can I obtain the lady's personal contact information and pass her mine?

According to our company's policy, which you can find at www.anastasiaweb.com/policy.php, the exchange of e-mails and telephone numbers in the letters, using our mailing system, is not allowed (this information is erased from the outgoing and incoming messages by the system automatically). However, it is possible to exchange postal addresses in your correspondence with the ladies.

Once you have the lady's postal address, you can ask her for any personal contacts via regular mail. We highly recommend using our Phone Introduction service to contact the lady and ask her for her personal contacts. In this case you will be able to ask the lady for any personal contacts, which with the lady's consent, may be given to you. The other option to send your personal contacts to the lady is our Flower delivery feature. You can include any of your personal information in the postcard attached to the flowers.
