at its best!

When I renewed my subscription in Jan. 2004, it included access to family trees that people like me uploaded to Ancestry.com and was free to everybody.

I wanted to get some information recently from the one I had uploaded, and found out that I would have to buy another subscription to access it. I can't see how that is even legal!

Thousands of individuals such as myself uploaded our research data that we spent long hours collecting and now we're asked to "buy it back". We were told that we would be helping other researchers, not filling Ancestry's pockets!

Free Family Trees (AWT) Still there

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

When you now click on "family tree' from the Ancestry.com home page you get their subscription One World Tree (OWT)instead of Ancestry World Tree (AWT). Down the page and to the right is a link to the old free AWT page. Be aware also that they now have 2 search engines "best matches" and "exact matches". For the old results page select exact match. The same family trees are also available free through Rootsweb World Connect. Personally I don't believe OWT is worth the additional $50.
