Anchor House Financial Lied about their services. Refused to refund money I paid to join ,which they promised to do for any reason Montecito California

This company advertises in a totally misleading way repeatedly on Craigslist.The house they advertised is fake.When I contacted them they offered to sell me their service which was supposed to hook me up with distressed homeowners willing to sell their houses for bargain prices.When I asked if they had a website I could look at they told me I had to join their program first.
They told me the money I was paying would allow me to see their list of homes in my area and also would be used for a title check on any house I bought.

They further told me if for any reason I decided not to buy a house the money would be refunded in 90 days.
This turned out to be all false. I did get a list to look at, but none of the houses were available on the terms Anchor House Financial had promised.
When I demanded my refund they referred me to the website (which I had been told earlier I had to pay before seeing) and follow the instructions.
The steps they required were not possible for me since I had found no houses to try to buy.

These people are disgusting. Taking advantage of people desperate to find homes in our ravaged economy as these scammers are doing is nothing more than preying on the helpless.

So I lost a couple hundred bucks. I can put that down to gullibility and try to learn from it. What galls me is these crooks are allowed to go on duping innocent victims just to line their own pockets.

am reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau but I am sure they are used to minor annoyances like that.
Isn't there something that could be done to stop them?
