The first thing you notice if you stay for even a few days is the large amount of drug trafficking going on around the property, especially in the "weekly" buildings (the property has four buildings...two are unofficially designated as nightly only, one being a summer building, and two are designated as weekly/extended-stay or nightly overflow when needed). Of course, the drug sales go on in other buildings, too...late last year a room was raided in the main building for drug trafficking, and the same thing happened with a room in the "summer only" building when it began being used for extended stay guests.
The next thing you'll notice, no matter what building you have the misfortune of being placed in, is the horrible condition of the property. Electrical outlets with no cover plates, exposed wires, broken appliances, barely operational fixtures, and infrequent hot water. Also, it appears they have no housekeeping staff at all, because in almost any room you'll find trash in cabinets, under beds, behind dressers...not to mention the numerous pubic hairs on the toilets and other hairs in the tubs and sinks. The bedspreads get washed about once every SIX MONTHS (and can you imagine how many body fluids accumulate on a bedspread in that amount of time?), the sheets have blood stains, urine stains, and bedbug feces on them, the pillows are NEVER cleaned or replaced (unless they are simply so ragged they can't be used).
And did I mention the bed bugs and cockroaches?? Until early winter of 2012, the bed bugs were pretty much restricted to the weekly buildings, but according to former housekeepers, they are now in ALL the buildings and nearly all the rooms! None of the extended stay guests are required to keep their rooms at any level of good sanitation (and are never inspected by management for cleanliness anymore...the manager last year who left at the end of summer was the ONLY manager who ever actually inspected rooms, walked the property, or even tried to make sure the place wasn't such a dump), so with trashy and nasty people living one room away, you'll also find cockroaches galore in your room, for sure.
The method of treatment for bed bugs is to spray chemicals...so you can tell the owner and manager have NO CLUE about pest control. The only things that kill bed bugs are heat or cold, to the extreme. They only eat blood, so how would a chemical kill them?? Stupid people. Oh, they do try to heat the rooms, but it doesn't work...it just chases the bugs to all the surrounding rooms!
The current manager actually worked there before...and when she got fired very early last year, everyone on the property and in the surrounding businesses, as well as the local police, breathed a huge sigh of relief. If you ever see her anywhere but sitting on her butt in the office, it's probably because she's looking for a new boyfriend, since she likes to try to date any male from 18 to 80 that makes the mistake of living on the property.
She is also a thief...she was actually fired, according to the previous corporate office people and a former housekeeper, because she was stealing money over and over. (The housekeeper used to clean the owner's on-site condo and he likes to run his mouth alot when he's jacked up...which is almost every day.)
By the way...NONE of these comments are slander - they are all true and can all be proven, just by asking anyone who works there or has worked there, or by asking most of the current and former long-term guests (tenants, actually, but to call them that gives them legal rights). Even the employees at the nearby Circle K gas station can give you an earfull about the mess of a motel that the Aquarius is.
As for the owner himself...a self-righteous drug addict, at the very best. At one point last year, there were probably half a dozen people living on the property that were also selling drugs to him...his favorites going from cocaine (until he fired the kid, J.D., who was selling it to him and the boy ended up in jail for armed robbery of a Domino's Pizza) to oxycodone (he was getting these from a former housekeeper's (K.P.) mother-in-law (P.H.)) to meth (yet another former housekeeper (T.E.) was the main source for that).
He also likes to hire drunks...several past maintenance men have been hard bottle-hitters and a current laundry worker is so drunk on a daily basis that she can barely walk a straight line, and the guy that does the trash will hide behind the buildings in his truck and drink on a regular basis...and there's a video on YouTube of the pool guy so staggering drunk that he nearly fell in the pool and drowned himself. And he also buys food stamps from guests...which is so completely illegal. (Guests he's bought them from include S.W., M.B., K.S., T.E., B.M., M.E., D.S., B.Mc., and others.)
And both he and the current manager like to treat people like dirt, scream and yell at them, and accuse them of ridiculous things just to make themselves look better.
Fortunately, I have a room with no neighbors, so I don't have to deal with much other than the bugs. I don't socialize with other guests or the employees, so it's easy to just sit back and watch and listen...
