Feb 2000 My husband and I made our first major purchase a car. We were financed by Arcadia Finacial LTD. We had a high intrest rate but at the time we didnt know better. My husband left for basic training 1/03, there was a mess up in his pay and we fell behind. I contacted Arcadia only to be called a looser that didnt pay my bills. I got no where. I spent the next 2 days trying to find a way to come up with the 264.00 payment. No luck, I recieved a phone call from them demanding payment in 10days. I explained the situation again, told them I had filed my tax return and when I had recived it I would westren union them the payment, it would fall about 45 days behind.. Nope not good enough.. I was told it would be repoed, I told them there was nothing I could do..
there wasnt. Was I to call the Army and DEMAND money now?

Well No one showed, but the phone calls were 6-8 a day 7 days a week, over the next 3 weeks I didnt even want to awnser my phone because i knew it was them. Then they called my aunt and demanded money from her!

I got my return and called them to tell them I was sending payment... I was told a number of fees I was being charged, Ok I knew that... But I was also told that they were changing my intrest from the 18% I was paying to 29.9% I was being punished for something that was out of my hands.. I found that was the way they worked. I told them then to come get the car I was giving it back. 3 months later I was 5 months behind in payments and they finally came to get it.

The repo man was so nice, and he him self told me this company was really bad about screwing people.

Anyways I got a letter statingit sold at auction for 1222.50 and the balance I owed them was 9,726.49.
The original note was for 9,696 after I made a 1000.00 down payment.. After 23 payments of 264.00.... I have asked this company for 3 years to send me something showing EVERY payment they recieved from me, proof of what it brought at auction, All I get is the run around, I have been yelled at, called names, and cursed at. I am not saying i dont owe something, But I will not pay them more than the original note was. Show me proof and I will pay!! To this day they are still calling me at a minimum 4 times a day, and still 7 days a week.

Can anyone give me a suggestion? Do I have the right to ask for this proof? Please any suggestions I would appreciate.

Please do not send a rebuttle tearing me apart and being rude. I have seen so many of these and people become rude and say horrible things, please if thats what your going to do just ignore this post.

Better Late Than Never

Dear Rose,
I wish I found your post a year ago. SO sorry it took me until now.

I was never a collector for Arcadia, thank goodness! I actually had dealt with them accidently on numerous occasions...fellow employee's just as rude as you describe them to be.

I might be able to explain a few things to you.
Fees being charged: Of course, it's Arcadia, they have the WORST fees out there. As some may point out, every bank has fees, but theirs are the worst! I imagine the fees you're referring to are repo fees, auction fees, towing fees (if they had to tow), and production of a key for the car.

The reason, again, I am assuming here, that your balance due to them was so high was because you took out a long term loan (5 year loan or more) at a very high interest rate. With Arcadia, all they do is high interest rates. SO, for the term of your loan, you weren't paying anything toward the car, you were basically paying interest. That would be why you still owed almost what you paid for it after it sold at auction. I can't imagine why they can't sent you a detailed report...oh wait, I can, it's Arcadia.

If you kept that car for any length of time and tried to trade it, you would be upside down and they'd have to roll it in to the new car. On that new car, if you'd even be able to get one on an Arcadia trade, would have been a nightmare for you and your husband. I would seriously say this is a blessing that it was repoed and I'm so sorry that it will be a ding on your credit.

In the end, I never blamed the people looking for car loans, I blame the Finance guy. No matter how nice he is, he's screwing you over. He would make money off the 'extra points' (interest) that a bank would allow him to go up to.
Example: A dealer would call and say "What am I allowed"? I would give the flat interest rate, say 9.9% and three points on top. He would then run and tell you the "great news" that you were approved at 12.9%.
Also: Dealer would ask what he was allowed on for a warranty. I would tell him (and this is a low-ball figure) 2 grand. Tag that onto the price of your car.

I left the business and Arcadia as I couldn't sleep at night even though these finance guys could while screwing innocent people over.

My BEST advice is DO NOT buy a warranty and go to a local credit union if at all possible when financing. ALWAYS barder with the interest rate,if you do use dealer financing, or 'special financing', it can be done!

Again, so sorry for your situation and I don't even work for them anymore! I'm still taking it to heart what people went through with them.

Already been threw it

AUTHOR: Charles - (U.S.A.)

My grandfahter helped my mother & me finance a vehicle with arcadia on 07/00 with high interest My mother didn't know any better or how these people operated, it was hell from the very beginning & we thought it was a mistake going threw them they would call demanding for payment all the time even before the due date, & at one point even try to have the car repo they accused us of being late & we were not even three months behind or even late! my mother tried to make a payment but they refused!

they did not get the car sense we had it locked up in a garage good thing I locked it up the night before. I was involed in an auto accident 09/12/03 & my car was totaled a month later by the insurance company progressive arcadia put me & my grandfather threw pure hell for 2 years threatning to take legal action agaisnt us & having rude & hateful & abusive collection agencies harass us all the time it got to a point we could not even asnwer the phone & my grandfahter was on the urge to having the phone # changed, we owed $10,000 & arcadia used every tactiv to try to force us to pay they were not even trying to talk to the insurance company they say we were still responsible & they were going to make us pay, or take us to court or have a lein put on my grandparents house the insurance company refused to pay the claim would not cooperate with us on anything would not listen we could not come to an settlement it was the other drivers fault who hit me & progressive agreed & put the blame on the other driver, but still progressive was not cooperative into paying us any money

2 years went by finally in 08/05 we filed a suit in small claims court we had no lawyer in court the lawyer for progressive started to accuse me of everything that I had caused the accident & the judge seem to believe their side more then ours, to make matter worse he personally new these people that is why he ruled agaisnt us this is conflict of interest & he should not have heard the case so progressive got away again without paying for nothing. In the meantime during the two years interest & late charges were being added with a new total of $15,000 balance progressive probally paid the court for the judge to rule agaisnt us so the judge can deny our claim because before we got their the adjuster & the lawyer was already in the judges office telling lies about us so he could make a judgement about us so when the judge ruled agaisnt us, arcadia was going to take us to court for something we had no money to pay & the people get away with this & do it to some other innocent person & lie about them in court like how progressive lied about us to the judge in court making us look bad so he would rule agaisnt us so going to court was a waste of time if the judge was going to treat us like dirt because he knew the people personally.

But at the end progressive settled with arcadia because they knew we were going to take them to higher court & we would win so they finally paid us the money my mother talked to progressive managers instead of the adjuster who kepted lying about us telling different stories & getting us introuble the adjuster was the cause of most of the problems that we encounterd because he refused to do anything, in the meantime arcadia got very more threatning & abusive having collectors call us every day right us ugly letters about taking us to court they put us threw hell for two years something that was not my fault they could not make us pay something we did not have they are nothing but evil loansharks & scum!, like this judge who treated us wrong because progressive him off to rule agaisnt us & he made things worse for us & the pain & suffering progressive & him caused us but good came out for the pain & suffering progressive ruined my credit for two years but my credit got cleared up & my grandfahters & the pain & suffering I endured from these evil loansharks is gone & from what progressive as caused bad things happen to good people,

the nightmare about being falsely sued was over & our credit was cleared up from these evil loansharks but I am still angered by the way I was treated because the accident was not my fault! & progressive accepted responibilty but still did not want to pay like most insurance companies do not want to pay claims bottom line in arcadia is evil & so is progressive do not sign the contract with arcadia you will regret it. And if you'er ever in an accident & your car gets totaled & its not your fault progressive will still take you to court or try to & make you pay no matter what.
