I took the matter to the president, Dr. Ryan. He referred my concerns to Dr. Egbert who was instructed to do an investigation. At the end of his supposed investigation I asked questions regarding the legitimacy of and specifics about the complaints, and he could not answer my questions. And yet, he supported the school's decision that I had to complete their remediation plan in order to proceed with my practicum and be able to graduate. This remediation plan was not justified, it had nothing to do with their supposed complaints, and I had to miss work (hence a loss of money) in order to do this requirement. I chose not to fulfill their remediation plan, and therefore left the school with debt with no degree.
In googling "Argosy Complaints" I have found that other students were also kept from graduating, leaving them with student loan debt and no degree. Two students answered an online posting about my complaint, stating similar complaints, but contact was lost. I also contacted a student I was put in touch that left Argosy disgruntled.
These deplorable actions by Argosy University need to be stopped! And, those of us who have been left with student loans and no degree should be reimbursed by Argosy.

Unfair, fraudulent, false advertisement, discrimination

During the 1st several years, I was placed on academic withdrawal. After being readmitted, I was told that I had to re-take 2 years worth of classes that had "timed out." I re-enrolled, took the necessary classes, passed my comprehensive exam, and spent 2 years applying for internships. I had approximately 13 interviews in 2 years (a very lengthy competitive process) and was not placed at a site.
I was also placed on administrative withdrawal twice because of my inability to afford to pay tuition out of pocket. I have called and emailed asking for assistance with financial aid to get me through the last phase of my academic career, however, I've been told to check out additional loans. As I previously informed Argosy staff, I do not qualify for loans, thus, they have been sending me in circles in my search for financial assistance in the form of scholarships and grants. Now I'm completely broke and was recently told via email that I cannot re-enroll for "reasons I am aware of."
My GPA was high, I had glowing letters of recommendation, and was well-received by peers and many professors. I put a lot of time, money, and energy into my education. I feel betrayed and disgusted when I think of the multiple responsibilities and roles I have juggled and the sacrifices made in order to enroll, maintain a 3.6 GPA, and graduate.
Needless to say, my interest and passion for the field has been tested and I now wish I had taken a different path after graduating from high school.

And, this had NEVER been a problem before. Prior to my upcoming classes I accepted the full amount of the loans I was offered...and it went from approx. $6,800 remaining to less than $3,000! You could say that this shocked me.

A nation-wide class-action lawsuit has been filed against Argosy University. You need to contact Cathie Taylor at Van Way & Johnson here in Dallas, Texas (Julie Johnson is the lead attorney on the case). Cathie, her coordinator, can be reached at 214.265.7600. There is already a filing and numerous students nation-wide have come forward with similar and very interesting stories about Argosy's unscrupulous business practices.
