The debt was paid in full in June of 2004. Once the letters started pouring in from the Collection Agency, my grandmother who is a co-signer on the loan replied immediately, now 3 times, then they kept calling her harassing her and telling her what credit card she could put this on. They knew more about her financial status than she did which is strange as they must have done a credit application report which is illegal without her consent.
This agency does not realize that there is Debt Collection laws and procedures that the businesses must go by. All they ever do is threaten an elderly lady and make her sick with the remarks that they are going to sue her. All she has asked for is to receive sometype of billing to be able to show them that this is paid. All she gets is harassing phone calls and worry. How does one combat this agency with their rude ways and harassment?
