at its best!

Today I received a letter from Arrow Fianacial Services claiming I owe $550 for a Bank Of America account. It does not say from when, nor does it say what the original amount owed was (as I'm told many other companies do). They are also saying that if I pay them before the end of July that they will consider my account settled in full if I pay them $80.

I do not have a Bank Of America account. I did have one, but that was more than 10 years ago. However, when I closed my account with them and moved to another bank, I did not owe Bank Of America anything!

This company is obviously trying to scam me. Why would they tell me to pay them $80 and it's all settled, when supposedly I owe $550. I've never heard of this company before, they have never contacted me before, and if I did owe Bank Of America something 10 years ago, I think I would have heard something from them a long time ago.

I probably should just pay the $80 so they leave me alone, sounds like others on this site are being ripped off for a lot more, but I refuse to be conned into paying something I do not owe! Anyone have any info on this company? Any advice? Thanks in advance!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Arrow Financial San Diego, CA RIPOFF

AUTHOR: Teresa - (U.S.A.)

I went through the same chaos with Arrow Financial in San Diego. They threatened to re-date my debt in order to bypass the 7 year limitation, refused to validate the debt, and constantly harassed me at work. I documented everything, and found every violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act that I could find. I filed a complaint with the FTC and the state attorney generals office listing all the violations(both entities followed up w/me, specifically the FTC) I then faxed a cease & desist letter to Arrow Financial, informing them of my complaints and including a request to validate the debt. I also hand delivered a copy. I told the receptionist that it was a payment so she would have to sign for it.(The office is located on Aero drive in Kearny Mesa). I also went on to the credit report websites and disputed the accounts including the fact that they never provided proof that I owed the debt.
The next time they called, I promptly informed them that they were in violation of the FCRA based on the cease & desist letter, and could be subject to fines for every violation. Several months later, my credit report was updated to reflect a "Paid in Full" status on my accounts. Good luck!

#2 Consumer Comment

DON'T PAY THEM!

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

They have to validate the debt, which they cannot do because they have no paperwork. If you send them the $80.00, they will 're-age' the debt and report it to the credit bureaus as a current collection.

The satute of limitations is way past, and even if you did owe this money, no one could do anything about it.

These are bottom feeding junk debt buyers. It's probably not even yours, but someone with the same name or close to the same name. DON'T fall for this scam!
