I contacted Arrow financial Services on December 12, 2004. I wanted to know the exact amount my payoff was so I could send the right amount to them when my debt management agency sends them my payment. I have been paying off a balance for about four years on this account which was originally a providian visa. I had over $3,000 of original debt. I now owe only $118.71.

I thought that it was going to be only $4 but after calling they told me i owed the $118 because they said that i had 2 years of no interest and then they started adding finance charges. I told them that I did not know anything about the finance charges being that when i called them last year they just said that I had no interest on my account. Nothing was said about the two year thing.

Norma from Arrow financial is who I talked to on December 12. When I told her that I had never been contacted about this finance charge she said that it was my debt management agency who should have called me. She also said that they have to accept the payments through my debt management agency however she told me later that she was not going to contact them any further. She called my debt management agency while i was on the phone with her. But I could not hear the Credit Counselor nor could the CC hear me. I wonder if she even called them.

This is when it started to get ugly. She told me I had to send a western union or a phone check payment that day within the hour or else. I was going to give her my bank numbers, but I told her that I was going to call my debt management agency to tell them what I was going to do and Norma was ticked off about it. She was yelling at me telling me that I didn't need to talk to them. She wouldn't let me talk. And pressed continually for my bank account numbers.

She was very rude and hateful and very unprofessional. I no longer felt confident with this company and did not want to give her my checking account numbers. I told her that I would call her back after talking to my debt management agency and she said,"Well I'm gonna put this on the desk at refusal of payment." She hung up on me then.

Stunned, I called my debt management agency myself and told them my situation. We agreed that it made no sense because this is my final payment, and they have a proposal that arrow agreed to.(which arrow denies exists) The debt management agency called Arrow on my behalf because I am through with them, and when he called me back to let me know how it went he said he couldn't even get a word in , Norma was doing all the "talking", or whatever you want to call it. He then told me that I did not have to give them my cank numbers and I agreed to send $128.71 to cover any finance charges that have accrued in 2 weeks.

What I am most baffled by is that I have been paying every month for four years, never missed a payment, never been contacted by arrow financial about my account, and I call for a payoff amount so I can pay it off this month, and I am left with frustration, worried about my credit report because Norma said I was refusing payment. Which I am not. I am refusing to give her my back account numbers. And I never told her that I wouldn't send the money western union, but since I wouldn't give my checking account numbers, and wanted to talk to my debt management agency, I am "refusing payment" This is such bull. My payment will be sent the 2nd of January, I hope that I never hear from this poor excuse for a company again, but after reading these reports from others I realize that I could have to go to the Attorney General to get this settled. I am fully prepared to do so also.

This company is terrible. Another thing I found to be odd is that the people who have reports on here have been called every day, I have never been called once, I wonder if those people are part of a debt management agency. If not, I find it hard to believe that they do not work with a CCS as they so adimantly claimed. I will report again after my payment to see what happens next.

Update! Arrow never called me again

Arrow never called me agian. After sending them their final payment that I made sure would cover any additional finance charges i didn't hear from them for a few months. In the mail one day I found a letter from them- it was a refund check for money that I paid over the amount I owed. I was shocked. So this has a happy ending.
