So we changed that. we had to buy it from a Ford Dealership then pay to Install it. It worked about another 15 miles. So Art Carr California Performance sent us another Transmission. THE DUMN HEAD SENT US A TRANNY FOR A LINCOLN. it was too long. so we had to have a drive shaft made to fit the thing. We couldnt get that transmission to go in Reverse. It didnt even work from the get go ! What a Joke. so he sent us another Transmission !! That one was for an F-150 and the this time it had all the wrong linkage. we swapped all the linkage out. you guessed it. the tranny didnt work. it wouldnt shift out of first gear!
Then he wanted to send us another one. you think after all this he'd just give up. I mean he said it was my mechanic and blamed it on all kinds of crap. Hell Art Carr if you can't even send the correct tranny after three try's how can I expect you to ever get the internals correct ? What a Freaking Joke. so then he finally said he'd send my money back.
It's been almost 7 months now and no check. What a freaking Joke. You know what's even funnier is that when I called him he asked me who I was gonna get to install it. I told him the speed shop I was working with..he said...oh yeah I know those guys there great, they absolutly know what their doing when it comes to high performace stuff. Then later he said my mechanic didnt know what he was doing! What a joke. PLUS I PAID ALL THE FREAKING LABOR FOR INSTALLING THREE DIFFERENT TRANSMISSIONS! So the whole thing has cost me $5000 and still no transmission that works !!! WTF F U Art Carr and California Performance. F your T.V. Show tooo I'll bet the car's you overhaul don't even get out of the freaking garage. if you work on them!

Converter runout
AUTHOR: GG - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, February 16, 2013
POSTED: Saturday, February 16, 2013unlike him I cannot sell my name to a Texas Co. for a million bucks. Too bad Texas did not know he can't build converter, and they over paid for getting a fools name to put on there company.
Back to the converter, after looking at the snout and seeing a funky seal wear pattern we chucked it in a lathe, .018 runout. A local converter shop verified and was cracking jokes about the infamous Art Carr.
The converters f.bombed the input bushing. So yep the converter cost plus a tranny repair. He needs to retire cause he is selling crap and the folks in CA. Have their head up their lower orifice.

They screwed me too...

POSTED: Wednesday, August 05, 2009At the time, Art Carr was advertising all over the magazines about building the Buick GN transmissions, and being the "Best in the business".
I plopped $2400.00 out of my pocket for them to replace it with one of their "unbreakable" transmissions... Worked ok for about a year... Exactly one week to the day after the 1 year warranty expired, their front pump and direct clutch pack let go and destroyed the trans. it only had about 10,000 miles on it.
Other than their transmission, the car was BONE STOCK, down to the tires... and they were still the original tires. When it broke, I was on cruise control heading down the 405 freeway at about 65 MPH... I called and thought, since it was so close to the expiration date, and the car had been babied and not modified, that they may at least help me out a bit even if it wasn't 100%...
Nope... I got told to screw myself, that I was "obviously racing and abusing the vehicle".
When I asked how, if I had been abusing it, why their "Indestructible" trans let go, they said the warranty is at their discretion and if they say I was abusing it (Even without any evidence of abuse) they could void the warranty... GM warranty wouldn't cover getting it repaired since it was an aftermarket trans, so they weren't liable for the quality...
I took the car to Mike Kurtz at PMAC in Houston, TX... $3000.00 later, I had another transmission that was indestructible... 7 years later and 130,000 miles later, that transmission from PMAC was as strong as a horse, and I actually started racing the car and modifying it about 1990...
When I sold it, it had over 150,000 miles on it, and was as solid as the day Mike put it in...
Art Carr is GARBAGE... avoid them like the plague!!!

Art Carr, California Performance Transmission and our attempts to resolve

POSTED: Tuesday, February 17, 2009The customer's responded that he would give us the transmission back after he received the refund.
Our feeling and policy is that while we are completely willing to refund the full purchase price of the transmission, we cannot issue the refund until after we receive the all our product back. As the transmission was paid for prior to shipping, our willingness to complete the transaction has been demonstrated in this and with hundreds of other satisfied customers.

POSTED: Monday, February 16, 2009As for me, it wan't the fact that his top employees were drunks, or the fact his technology was outdated, and that they took more pride in making sure the bolts were shiny than checking important tolerances within the insides of the units; the money was too good for that to get to me. It was when my paycheck bounced when I decided that moving on would be in the best interests for both of us.
Nice guy though.
