I recieved an aspire credit card last september. I sent a payment in for the amount of $30.00 more than min. Also it wasn't even due yet. Also after about a week I westurn-unioned a $50.00 payment and when I did that I found out they hadent posted my 30.00 payment. They also gave me a late fee which put me over limit so I started the dispute. They finally after 2 months told me to prove that they cashed my money-order and the date.

I proved that the money-order was cashed on the 12th of november the same day they gave me all the fees. They will not take off all the charges and I've refused to make a payment this whole time until they made it right and fixed my credit report.

So now instead of my balance being at 210.00 where it should be its at 889.34 We even offered to pay off the 210.00 balance with another card and they refused. I need to do a class action law suite to fight all of this. They just charged off the account. So if any one has an attorney please contact me a.s.a.p. so I can prove to all the people that were trying to buy a house through. Thanks for your time.

Check your credit report

AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)

Dawn,

My name is Christopher from Spindale, North Carolina. The FDCPA provides avenues that you can use to protect yourself from harrassment. There is a pending case against me as well.

I recommend getting a copy of your credit report and checking with the Statutes of Limitations Act for your state. If your SOL Act says 3 years, and have never signed a payment agreement with them, you are legally entitled to force the debt to be annulled. Whatever you do, do not let Midland Funding LLC, or whoever bully you out of your rights. I know that these are some pretty powerful people, but they are not above the law. If you need further info, please do not hesitate to email me. Just leave me an email address so that I can get back with you

ps, I am actually starting a crusade to take on all of these corrupt companies, and put them out of business once and for all

No Problems Here!

AUTHOR: Omied - (U.S.A.)

I see alot of people complaining about Aspire and well, alot of credit card companies but nevertheless, I've had an Aspire Gold Card for a little over a year. I've yet to have any problems other than the hard to understand accents from their customer service when I've needed to call. I pay my bills on time, I always pay more than the limit, and I verfiy that each payment has gone through by the payment date.

Here's the thing, you need to take a proactive approach and cover your own rear. I got this card because I screwed my credit up and needed to grab some high interest plastic in order to gain credit worthiness. I pay all my bills online and there is no charge. Not too mention after a year my credit limit was increased from 300 to 500 dollars. So my suggestion is, do your part! Having credit card is like a relationship that needs both parties to actively do their part.

your fault

AUTHOR: Xx - (U.S.A.)

The problem people are having is due to them not handling their situaton correctly. obviously you are not speaking to the correct people.

and if you pay your bills on time you wont have to deal with companies that give high aprs and charge outrageous fees.

The reason the apr and fees are so high is beacuse of you low credit score, YOU ARE A HIGH RISK CUSTOMER. THUS YOU ARE A LIABILITY.

If you are a bad driver your car insurance will go up!

credit cards work the same way. dont be stupid , or at least dont complain if you are.

No Problem With Aspire

AUTHOR: Chip - (U.S.A.)

I too once had the gold card. My credit was not the best. Opened the account in 8/04, and they gave me a $300 limit, or something like that. I always paid on time either online through my bank or through the Aspire website. NEVER a problem They upped my credit limit to $850 in a matter of 12 months, and lowered my fees after the first year. The card helped me build my credit to the point where I could get a MasterCard through a bank with no annual/monthly fees and a credit limit in the thousands. I paid off Aspire, called them to cancel, and they closed my account, no problem. They sent me a letter confirming the account closure with a zero balance.

I NEVER had a problem. I'm not saying that it's not possible for someone to have had a problem, but I never did.

IN TOTAL AGREEMENT

AUTHOR: Marlaina - (U.S.A.)

I am sorry to hear about your problem Dawn I hope someone can help you. I know this company is very shady. Most of the comments I've read on here are pretty accurate. I got my Aspire card 2 years ago when I graduated college because at the time my credit wasn't good enough for anything else. That is about the only thing this card is good for. HELPING YOU REBUILD YOUR CREDIT. Because they will open an account for people with bad credit (or as they say now: Less than Perfect Credit). And my credit was definitely less than perfect.

However, about a month ago, after I paid off all my other credit cards and CapitalOne reinstated my account, I cut the Aspire Card into little tiny pieces and closed my account. I had issues with my Aspire account at first but after I realized the way the company operated I decided not to charge on the account and to just keep it open in order to build my credit score up.

The fees and interest rates are high and the company is a little unreliable particularly if you try to mail your payments in. I live in Atlanta and the company is in Atlanta but somehow my mailed in payments would take weeks to process.

It can't take more than a day for the post office to deliver a piece a mail to the same city! So after that I decided to either make online payments or send them via Western Union. I WOULD NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO GET THIS CARD UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER CREDIT OPTIONS AND YOU NEED TO REBUILD YOUR CREDIT SCORE. AS SOON AS YOU CAN GET APPROVED FOR A BETTER CARD GET RID OF THE ASPIRE CARD.

I almost became a member

AUTHOR: Charles - (U.S.A.)

I, almost became a member of aspire visa gold card I applied for the card but to activate the card I had to pay $29, & they would charg $150 acceptance fee so I would only have $150 credit limit. I, closed the account after I got the card because I already had one of these secured cards you have to pay to get a credit card if you have no credit or bad credit!, I don't need a credit card that bad! so I decided to close my account!. I, read other complaints on this website I will never have a credit card in my life but its no big lose after hearing all the horror stories, how people got themselves into credit card dept!.

I Have an Aspire Gold Visa Card

AUTHOR: Danyael - (U.S.A.)

Greetings. I currently have an Aspire Gold Visa Card. Started off with a $300 credit limit. Then they upped it $50, then upped it a $100, then upped it one more time. My credit limit is now $750. Ive had this card since March of 2005 and have never been late or missed a payment. On my 1 year, they eliminated one of my yearly fees and reduced my monthly participation fee. I have no complaints about Aspire at all. They don't even charge for online access if you want to pay via your checking account.

Im sorry to hear about anyone's problems with Aspire. And as for them being Tribute or anything like that, i'm afraid i don't know anything about that. :(

Aspire is still Aspire

AUTHOR: Emily - (U.S.A.)

Hello, I've had Aspire for a month and a half now and have not had any problems with them thus far. My account was opened in FEBRUARY 2006 and the name was NOT Tribute. All of the documents that I have say Aspire on them, even their website has the name aspire in it.

I've made all of my minimum payments and I do understand that their posting of credit to an account is slow when the payment is made through their website. That is why I use the bill pay feature of my credit union instead, it posts much faster. If you must use aspire's website to pay, pay at LEAST a week in advance and understand that they charge a $10 fee for most online payments... read ALL of your disclosures.

I hope this helps you.

Sincerely,
~Aspire, Capital One, Chase, and Juniper Customer~

They lied to me.

AUTHOR: Russell - (U.S.A.)

I received this offer from "Tribute" in the mail, saw the unbelievable high interest rate and fees they wanted to charge, so I decided to research and found that they were once known as "Aspire". I called "Tribute" and asked them 2 questions. The first was what bank were they on and the second was if they used to be known as "Aspire" in any way or affiliation. The woman paused for 1 second then said "No" that they were a new company. I knew she was playing on my words so I asked in another way, "Were or was your company ever known as, affiliated with or had owners affiliated with the company known as "Aspire". She then again said "No!". So I did a whois check on their company website www.tributeyes.com and the first thing I saw was their nameserver still called www.aspire.com. LOL I busted them in their lie. If you were a reputable company why would you lie like that to try and hide that unless you were in fact scamming people or doing something wrong. So please I plea with you: Do not give "Tribute" and business whatsoever unless you want to see your credit report damaged even more.

I do not care what ex-employee comes to their defense, I have busted the company in a lie so there is nothing an ex-employee or current one for that matter can do to save themselves. Better close up shop guys and rename your company to something else. Try honesty this time, how bout WeScamU Mastercard or RipUOff Visa, those sound like good business names.
