I dropped our family Blue Cross Personal Comp plan for Assurant Medical.  A few months later my daughter broke her arm requiring surgery to plate her bones.  Here are the costs and what the insurance paid:

Assurant paid nothing towards the hospital bill saying it was included in the surgeons fee.  There were almost no discounts, unlike Blue Cross which negotiates discounted fees.  The Blue Cross plan cost about $100 more a month than the Assurant plan.  This plan is not worth it.  I would have been better off paying the extra for Blue Cross to get the discounted fees.  I kniw this because my husband had hernia surgery under Blue Cross and the discounts were substantial.

You do know there are different levels of insurance, don't you?

As they say, you get what you pay for.  Higher premiums give you better coverage and lower deductibles. I don't think your maklng a fair comparison here. Nope, I don't work for either insurer.
