On March 5, I purchased an advertised CHEVROLET HHR 4 LAYER WATERPROOF CAR COVER from AutoArmourCovers.com; a “Porsche Owner Approved Company”, as they advertised themselves, for $42.30! I blame myself for not stopping right there. A Porsche car cover for $42.30! They have since changed their Web-Site, deleted all Porsche referral ads and increased the price by $12.65. I received a thin tissue paper quality cover which was neither waterproof, dustproof nor protected against UV rays. (Photos available.) Within 2 weeks it started ripping at all the stress points. I sent them photos including where my wife was painstakingly trying to sew the holes together. Naturally I got the typical run-around. The seller kept requesting more information but the only documentation that was in the box with the cover was instructions on how to put the cover on the car. It was the first time I ordered something from the Internet that didn’t come with an Invoice! After extensive email correspondence which lasted over two months the seller agreed to let me return the cover IN ORIGINAL CONDITION within 60 days of the sold date which they already knew had passed. [continued below]....
On the previous website for AutoArmourCovers.com you would find their ‘support’ consists of a single email address that nobody monitors.
(firstname.lastname@example.org) Halfway down their homepage you would have found one line in big letters stating LIFETIME WARRANTY. Right below that is printed 3 YEAR WARRANTY. Your guess!
On their new Web page they have links for 112 pictures of Exotic Sports Cars in various stages of being washed/waxed or specially posed. Anyone knowing nothing about any type of car could readily see the company is trying to make you think their tissue paper cover is used to cover these fancy cars. But not one picture shows anything to do with their car cover. Instead of ‘going over the top’ in false advertising they would have been better off showing a VW wrapped up in one of their covers, accentuating the look of the cover, not the sports car. The new site also has a ‘quick response’ number: 858-255-0102 in San Diego. Not toll free. That alone should put up a red flag. You can email them but it’s an unknown email address. They claim to have a new headquarters in La Jolla, California, but a quick address search will not show them in La Jolla or San Diego. If you Google Auto Armour Complaints you’d immediately find out what kind of company it is. Consumer BEWARE!
