I bought a used truck (lemon) from AutoSmart on Preston Highway in 2013, after getting the truck home found that the reared was leaking really bad so I contacted the dealership and right away got the run around.

I tried for weeks to get this matter resolved but it never was, I ended up spending $3500.00 dollars or more on transfer case rearend work and tons of other repairs needed before ever really getting to drive the truck.

Auto smart never returned my phone calls, made a ton of promises they never kept, after doing some research that I should have done before this I have found there are a ton of folks this has happened to and I feel it's my duty to get the word out about this dealership so the folks of Louisville are aware of this shady dealership.

In short, my truck was never inspected before it was put out for sale, I contacted the service manager and asked what type of inspection was done before it was set out for sale ... He said we drove it around the block, and if it makes it back to the lot with no issues we give it to the sales department.

The sales department sells the car or truck, knowing it has issues, and when it breaks down you bring it back to the lot were the repairs are tacked on to your already high interest rate loan cause you less than prefect credit.

Its a racket, they sell you a junker, you bring it back after it fails and then they charge you double for the repair, if they fix it !!! So people of Louisville please stay away from Auto Smart on Preston Highway cause they WILL !! Rip you off !!

The dealership does not do the inspections prior to vehicle sale

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

I am a consumer that has never used this dealership. However, I noticed in your report the following statement:

"In short, my truck was never inspected before it was put out for sale,...."

The car dealership doesn't inspect vehicles for buyers at all - not this one or any other dealership. Even if they advertise a XX point inspection it is nothing but a marketing ploy to get you to purchase a vehicle without having your own mechanic inspect the vehicle before the purchase. You have to protect yourself when purchasing a vehicle, any vehicle new or used, from a car dealer. The car dealer is out for themselves.

Yes, you were duped. That is what car salespeople do and until you learn that the dealership is looking out for their own interest, you will be scammed.

Do some research on how to buy a used car (one hint: always bring the vehicle to a mechanic before you sign a contract, and not the dealerships mechanic either.) There are other steps, so learn before you buy your next vehicle.

Also get your financing through a credit union before you ever step foot on a car lot. If you do these two things, it will greatly help you in your purchase.

If you can't get financed through a credit union, then do the work to fix your credit so you can get financed. All of this information is available for free on the internet. Take advantage of it.
