My story starts when I went to Auto Source in Virginia Beach Virgina and purchase my 2000 Acura Integra on June 5, 2008, the car had several things wrong with it when I test dorve it. Starting off with a lug nut that was gone off the car, which made the wheel wobble terribly. They did get the lug nut put back on that same day. I didnt pay that to much mind because it was a simply repair. The next thing that happened was the day I picked up the car, I left the car lot and headed home, on my way home it was getting dark and I went to turn on my head lights and there was no head lights. So I called the salesmen James Goodman and told him about it. They made me go to Advance Auto Parts all the way back in Virginia Beach, when I live in Hampton, but I had to go to Virginia Beach so that it would be added to their accout and I wouldn't be the one paying for it. But I did however have to put the headlights in myself. Then the next day I discover that my radio doesnt work, and that it is fried, so again I contact James Goodman and he tells me to bring the car to them and they will fix it so I did just that. I bring the car all the way back to Virginia Beach again just so they can tell me that they have no radio to replace it with and that I get a radio and that they will give me my money back for what I spend on the radio. So the next day I show up with a radio and the sales manager Craig was cursing and yelling about how he wasn't going to give me my money back for the radio because a bank interview wasn't done, which should have been done before I left the car lot the day I got the car, and before and signed all of the paper work. I asked the salesman why I had not been told about the bank interview when I was just up here the day before. Of course he had no answer. Then I asked the salesmen why is Craig yelling about me, and the issues with my car in front of all the people at the lot, and their words were "He wants a bank interview done and ya'll aren't trying to do one". So I tell the salesmen "if I had of know that I had to do one it would have been done but no one said anything about it not even you". Refering to James Goodman. So til' this day I have no radio in my car because they never installed the one I bought, they never installed, so I just wasted money on a radio that is still sitting in my car, and it is now August 1,2008. Thats how long I have been fighting with them. My next problem was a little bit bigger, it prevented me from driving the car. This problem happed on the saturday after the radio thing. I was driving and it felt like my passenger well was loose, so I get off the interstate and pull over and I was missing a wheel stud so I go to the dealership and ask for James Goodman and comes to the front and I tell him what happened and he was like well take it to a repair shop because our mechanic is not working right now, and I told him I didnt have time to take it there, so then he was like leave the car here and call someone to come and pick you up, and we will fix it when our mechanic gets back. I tell him no I can't do that, I need a rental car because I have two kids and I need a car. Then he tells me take it to the Firestone tire shop because they didnt have any rentals left. So I didn't have a choice but to take the car to Firestone because I could not drive with a missing lug nut and wheel stud. So I get to Firestone and the AC is broke and it is like 100 degrees outside, and I have my two kids with me which are both under the age of 2, and not very happy. So I tell the guy at the desk what I need done to the car and to call Autosource and ask for James Goodman and verify that they are going to pay for it. Well he calls and he tells him it is going to be $163 for the part and labor all the together. Auto Source then decides that they don't want to pay that much. So James tells the guy at Firestone he will call back and let him know if they are going to pay for it or not. So we sit around at Firestone for an hour before James calls back and lets them know. They finally agreed to pay for it. By this time Firestone is about to close in 20 mins. but thankfully they were nice enough to stay over and fix my car. Also when the guy at Firestone was talking to the salesman he kept saying he wanted them to pay with a credit card right then and there because everytime they put it on the account they have with them, Firestone never gets paid. I thought that was kind of odd being that they are a car business and make decent money. Anyways, I finally get my car fixed and leave Firestone thinking this was going to be the last issue I have with this car. I was wrong. About two weeks later, I was driving down the road when I began to feel my wheel loosing again, and hearing a strange sound. I get to the nearest location to me, my friends house and look at the car. Two wheel studs were broke off, and the other two where stripped. So I called James Goodman, who we couldn't get ahold of, so I talked to another salesman who informed me that Craig said that he was not going to fix the car because we owed them $500 from part of the down payment. Well my down payment was $1500, in my contract it says Cash Paid: $1500. So I do not owe them any money. I then continue to call to see if they are going to fix my car and to tell them what my contract states, and being that I have a 30 day 1,000 mile warranty. This inncident happened around June 25th, which was still inside my warranty. Well the next time I call I get told that they are not going to fix my car because I owe them $1200 for the down payment, a whole new amount. So again I continue to call and call. Finally I speak to Linda I believe, and she takes down my address and information, and tells me that they will be sending a tow truck to come and pick the car up and fix it. The car was never recently inspected and Linda herself said if the car had been inspected almost of all the issues would of never happened. Well I never see a tow truck, so the next afternoon I call back up to the dealship and talk to James Goodman. Well he starts cussing and screaming at me telling me "I want my mother f***ing car back, where the hell are you at, I am going to get my f***ing car" So I hung the phone up on him. I then decided that the best thing to do was to contact a lawyer, the local news, and to fix the car myself in the mean time. So I went to fix the car and little did I know that you need a special tool to get the part of the car off that I needed to get to. So the car sat for three weeks until I could get the time and money to fix the car. I spent over $500 fixing the car, not to mention I then lost my job for not being able to get to work every day because of my transportation problems. I have two kids and really needed that job, not to mention I got the car fixed on July 14th, which was the day before the car payment was made, and I did not have the money to pay it. So today being August 1st, and me still not having the money to pay it because I had to look for a new job when I got the car fixed, they came and repossessed my car. Now I am really screwed. If Auto Source would of fixed my car like they were required to because of the warranty then I would of never lost my job, never wasted money, paid my car payment, and still had my car.

I think they broke the law

AUTHOR: Christina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 01, 2008

My son worked for a used car dealership that was recently reported to the state police for failing to provide a fresh inspection for a car they sold. The VA State Police took it pretty seriously too. Might be worth investigating.
