I have been "attending" online classes with Axia since July 2008. I like the classes and all the instructors except for one. Most of my instructors have pretty impressive credentials, are helpful, and seem to know what they are talking about. My only complaint up until now was related to financial aid. Paula, my financial advisor told me when I was getting my refund checks and how much money they would be.

The first check was fine. The second was only for $600, which was over $1400 less than it should have been. I called her and she came up with all sort of explanations, none of which made any sense. In the end, she denied that she had ever told me that I was going to get a check for over $2000. I knew better, because I asked her direct questions about disbursement dates, amounts, and I repeated exactly what she said to my husband.

I received paper work saying that the loan company was giving me the over $2000 check, so I am worried that I will owe them for money I never received. I had put that issue on the back burner, thinking it was an honest mistake, but I know I need to check into it after reading the posts on this site.

The newest problem, as of today... I have been dropped from a class due to not meeting attendance requirements. I KNOW I met the attendance requirements, so I was shocked to find out they had done this to me. I talked to Paula and my student advisor, Corrina today. Paula said she had my attendance record pulled and I did not post more than one assignment. I know better. She told me to prove it, which is impossible because the class is over. I can no longer access that classroom.

So, basically I'm screwed. I feel completely defeated. I know how hard I worked in that class and it was all for nothing. I love going to school online, but the Axia system is obviously flawed and possibly fraudulent. I think I need to find a different school to attend. I am not blaming Paula and Corrina for this attendance issue; the records supposedly say what they say.

The problem is, I insisted that I posted both of my assignments and Paula said maybe I did post them and one just did not show up, which does happen sometimes. I understand that. But when that happens and I get kicked out of a class because of it, there is no recourse. I 'm just out of luck.

HOW CONVIENIENT FOR THEM....

AUTHOR: Marie - (U.S.A.)

Rabbit,

I find this very interesting that you posted this. I had the exact same thing happen to me. On both parts i might add. I did my research on my finance issue and found out through my Sallie Mae account directly that the school was not lying about the amount i was getting, however previous to that they had told me that i was getting much more back than i really did. And like you denied saying anything of the sort.

On January 18, 2009 I was dropped from one of my classes for not posting attendence either. I could not even log into the stupid class to post if i wanted to for the entire weekend. I did not even get to post my assignment. The web site was screwed off. So i called tech support and took screen shots to show my teacher and counsiler so that i could get credit for that week. However, just when i am able to log into the web site and see my classes i get the news that i have been dropped from my SCI class. I am so furious about this. I called my counsiler and told them this and even sent the print screens and ticket numbers to him. He spoke with his managers just to come back to me several days later i might add, that IT WAS MY FAULT. WHAT???!!!! how could this be my fault when it was clearly thier's? I was in week 7 when i got dropped, i would have been finished with it last sunday(Feb. 1, 2009). Then i only had ONE more set of classes before graduation.... so i was peeved that i had to take this class over because of thier mistake.

Oh wait it gets so much better.... I attempted to log into my next set of classes and after looking around through all my records, they took my classes off!!! They dropped the remaining courses and i am not in class as of this moment. i looked everywhere, and where it used to say i had two more classes to take (schedule and grades page) they are gone.... according to that i dont have any more classes to take and I am 9 credits away from my degree. I was supposed to graduate and be done with this stupid school APRIL 6, 2009. now i dont know what i will do. I worked my bazoon off to get that degree and not to mention put myself into debt of about 18K in student loans..... I am so peeved!!!!

IF ANYONE GETS A CLASS ACTION GOING AGAINST UOP I WANT IN.........
