HI Im here about BARRY POWELL AND Dr.Tamarisa, i bought a house for 295,000.00 in may 2009 and i have paid 163,860.00  and i was evicted as a renter, but i had cobntract i just got to my lawyer where it was supposed to be deeded to a trust which i paid for twice,now i have filed lawsuits and i will get all my money back and charges filed as many as 19 against Barry Powell and Dr. TAMARISA OF SUGARLAND. By the way the reason i was evicted because Tamarisa would not accept no more money for real estate,because him and Barry had  lost 400,000.00 on a swingers club deal in san antonio, any one else out there who has been a victim of this scam, feel free to call me, i have a lawyer that will get your money back and the parties will be arrested and licenses removed, and posibly imprisionment,i paid 72,000.00 down and 1,200.00 to a title company on fry road in Katy Texas PLUS 5,000.00 Cash for Barry powells services and was ahead 3 notes and on and on. The house is for sale now, but we are filing les pendence , mortgage fraud,and so many more charges, these people are crooks, they just muscle people around, and even go before judges and tell them you are a renter, because they never give you paper work, well its coming  to a hault or incarceration.  I WILL UPDATE YOU ALL AS IT UN WINDS, ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH THIS CALL ME , (((ROR redacted)))  PHIL HURLEY  AND ILL GET YOU TO THE RIGHT LAWYER.

Barry Helped phil Tremendously

Barry helped Phil Hurley live in the best home he ever had.  Barry even loaned Phil $15,000 that was never repaid.  Barry helped Phil repeatedly; believed in Phil when no one else would; and what does he get?
Dr. Tamirisa even allowed phil to get 3 and 4 months behind on the mortgage. 

The main difference between a dog and a man is that you can help a dog and he won't bite you. 
It's hard to believe that you can help someone so much and then when they can't or won't pay their mortgage they want to blame someone besides themselves.

And even go so far as to trash the very people that helped them.
It doesn't make any sense. Whatever happened to personal responsibility!

Barry Powell A Person of Good Character

    A person who defaults and does not pay and claims that a Doctor cheated him is  not credible.   One person is a Doctor - that's credibility.  The other never paid on time and went months behind in payments repeatedly.  Barry Powell simply represented the Doctors interests and coordinated an eviction after repeated defaults.  The Doctor had no choice.   You can't leave for free.  A 20% down payment of $60,000 some thousand was paid.  It was a two year nightmare of nonstop defaulting.

Phil Hurley Never Paid On Time for the 2 years he lived there

  From the start Phil never paid.  He would get 3-4 months behind, and when the sherriff would go there to take him out he would have the payments caught up.  4 different times he did this and finally hecould not get current.  True, he made a 20% down payment, but if you don't make your payments you can't just live for free.  I ws friendswith Phil; Ialso loaned him $15,000 which he never repaid.  It's amazing howpeole live and think they don't need to make payments as agreed.

Phil never paid on time for a year and a half.  I even loaned him $15,000 which he never paid back.  After he was in default another 3 months I had to evict him on behalf of the investor owner.  Simple as that.

Got Real Estate for 0 and pocketed cash?

This comment is to futher educate readers as I will not use this forum to go tit for tat with the liar and crook that so many are complaining about here. If you are approached by this man with any type of business transaction...RUN!!! If you stay, make sure everything is in writing to the letter, especially any promises. This is the only way to properly use the legal system and prevail. Regardless of any of his misrepresentations stated here or anywhere else, Barry Powell knows that he lied, cheated, and stole from me and manufactured a bad investment deal that he attempted to change the terms on after it went south. Hind sight being 20, I truely believe that it was a bait and switch from the onset. None the less, all investments involve risk and I understood that. The problem came about when Barry Powell chose to retract the investor insurances that he put in place prior to the transaction that he built and brokered. There were no trusts ever filed as he claims, and the so called trustee didn't know me from a can of paint! He then tried to trade his assurances off as "Services rendered" after his deal went sour stating he couldn't find what he had promised in writing. Well the joke was on you wasn't it? You forgot you placed it all in several emails which by the way, do hold up in court.  Comissions???? For what? He was paid commissions at closing, then collected property manager commission for placing underqualified, bad credit tenants who defaulted on their lease 6 months in. He then tried to sell me on a process of signing over the deed to the home to an individual who would pay later and disquise it as a "Wrap around". When confronted with the fact that this was totally prohibited by the mortgage company, Barry's reply was, "Why did you tell them"? Barry there are still some honest folks left in the world...you're just not one of them.

Lastly, he tried to have me sign an agreement that he would receive sales commission on the home anytime in the future (even though it was his own faulty deal that placed me in this position).

Is this man a fool or does he take me for one? Bottom line....He was sued, and I was awarded a judgement of which was paid and honored through the Texas Real Estate Commission. All of my evidence was in writing, and they were not fooled by his smoke and mirrors. GET IT IN WRITING,
GET AN ATTOURNEY, then GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!!

HE SAID BAD THINGS ABOUT A 7 YEAR FRIEND OF MINE KEITH WHITE WHO HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING BUT BE NICE TO BARRY AND MYSELF. BARRY POWELL IS A COMNPULSIVE LIAR AND A REAL ESTATE CROOK, IF YOU SEE HIM COMING RUN YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU GOT AWAY, HES LIKE A RAT ON A BLOCK OF CHEESE MONEY MONEY HE WAKES UP IN THE MORNING AND LOOKS IN THE MIRROR AND SAYS WHO CAN I TAKE DOWN TODAY.   HANG ON PEOPLE LAWYERS WILL BE GETTING THIS SETTLED,  THAN WHEN THEY ARE ALL IN JAIL YOU ALL WILL KNOW. Greg made 50K cash at the close and complains

Greg got real estate for -0- and pocketed cash.  He was happy.  Then he loans $5000 to Keith White and I guaranteed the loan for him.  Keith defaults; but promises to pay.  Greg gets a default judgment against me because I believe Keiths promises that he will make the loan good right up to the court date. Greg is not paying commissions as agreed; the judgment occurs; and so I am done with both of them.  I understand from Phil Hurley that Keith is inputting trash on me on his behalf without Phils approval.  Phil says he has no issue with me.  Keith White pays no one.

I spoke to Phil Hurley.  He said that was input by someone else without his approval.  He said he has no problem with me and is still happy to do business with me. He said Keith White did this without his approval.  Iam a licensed broker and can be reached through TREC. This is very frustrating to read but so it is.

I am extremely sorry that there are other victims of this scam.  The FBI has told me that they would be more diligent in pursuing Powell and his associates if they could tie together more victims.  I am also in the process of negotiating a settlement with one of the lenders and it would be helpful to be in contact with others as well.  I noticed that contact information has been redacted in previous posts but I will try here now.  I can be reached by email at (((ROR redacted)))

Another Victim

I am amazed at the number of individuals that have been scammed by this crook including myself. Since being scammed by Mr Powell, I have researched and found other sites where folks have been victimized by his venom.  I was hesitant to report here and chose to persue due justice through the court system. In doing so, he was successfully sued. I am now in the process of trying to collect on the judgement. The long and short of it is, I was an investor that was dupped into becoming a "Straw Buyer", later to find that not only did these "Trusts" not exist, but that the whole business plan he sells is based on fraud. His best defense always seem to be that "You're the principal".
It seems that he believes that as long as he stays on the outside (in the role of the broker), then he's scott free to collect a commission on a bad deal, and leave the investors hanging. He depends on the fact that once you've figured out the scam, then do some research, by that time you're involved. Then you likely won't report anything that can be construed as illegal. It gets much better in that his scam likely involves mortgage lenders, appaisers, and so on. When the smoke cleared, I was left holding the bag on a bad investment, over priced property, and lots of promises and lies (in writing) which this man never had the intentions of honoring. Bottom line is I welcome any lawyers, prosecutors, or agents, class action suits, or anyone else interested in hearing my complete story which is supported by tons of evidence. For any of us that are fortunate enough to recoup any of our losses, there seems to be as many more that just don't know where to turn. This person needs to be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.  
I believe that RipOff Reports has a way to connect attorneys and the legal system to the complaintees. If so, please call me. I am also trying to find Mr Hurley and Christine E.
Last thing, this Dr Tamarisa name looks familiar in my case. I will update my any findings here on this person

I have been a victim of Barry Powell and his associates. The type of of scam that they have orchestrated is completely illegal and you can go to the website of their attorney David Willis where he outlines how they get straw buyers to help with their fraud.

I don't know how to get in touch with the original poster but I have an attorney and would like to take your information to the FBI investigators as well.
