After reading these complaints about BB&T it only proves that their practices are a bit deceitful. Surely this many people cannot have the same problem, including me. I am very careful about my checking account and time to time I do make a mistake, who doesn't.

The banking industry knows what they are doing, overdrafts are where they make all their money. With BB&T nothing is updated from Saturday until Tuesday, why is that? Do all banks have the same practice? I do not know.

I am so fed up with banks. It is plain to see that I am not the only one.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Understand banking days

AUTHOR: Mr Common Sense - (U.S.A.)

Banking days are Monday to Friday coordinating with the days the Federal Reserve is open. Saturday is not a banking day so anything you do on the weekend is considered Monday business which posts Monday night. If Monday is a holiday, then it won't post until Tuesday night.

Since you mentioned overdraft fees - I assume that you were charged fees for purchases that you made before you made your Saturday deposit and funds were not available to pay the debits when they all posted on Monday night. Stop trying to beat the system and blame the bank for your inability to properly manage your money. You create the overdrafts by not having available funds in your account at the time you write a check or use your debit card. The banks set the rules, you choose not to live by them - so you pay fees. Your choice!

Deceitful?

AUTHOR: Jf :( - (U.S.A.)

Yes, updates are from Tuesday through Saturday. This does not make a difference on how you spend your money. It is your responsibility to balance your own checkbook and not spend money you do not have. If you choose to bank with BB& T you are well informed that deposits made after 2:00 will post with the next business day's transactions. You are also well informed of NSF fees. If a bank does not charge fees, how will they pay the employees that process all of your debits/ credits and maintain your account. Everything is not free in life.

Yup, something is wrong

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

and part of it is your reading comprehension or lack there of as you even admit you caused your own fees yet still have the balls to bitch about a bank for no good reason. And you clearly missed the one where the OP had to come back and ADMIT HE WAS WRONG.
