After 12 years of being a loyal customer, and with 12 years of ACH payments going through Compass Bank. I never had any issue with overdraft, my account never went negative.
I tried many times to talk to them, I called their main office in Alabama, but they never gave me any reason why the closed my good standing account. The only thing they told me was, according to the checking account agreement, page 22, that I signed with them 12 years ago, it says" We can close your account any time for any reason, or for no reason".
This is really an abusive behavior, I will never recommend BBVA Compass Bank to anyone.

Search TipsAgain it all seems to come down to risk. That is for what ever reason the bank sees your account as a risk and they are really under no obligation to share with you specifics. Since you have failed to mention that there were any invalid debits or other transactions, and without knowing the exact situation all anyone can do is give you suggestions.
It is interesting that you mentioned your tax refund. The IRS and banks have tightened up several areas in direct deposits. The IRS does NOT allow a direct deposit that is not yours to be deposited in your account. So if you had a Direct Deposit at any time deposited into your account that was not yours this could be the "Uncomfortable Transactions" they are talking about.

When you were at the branch did the manager or whoever you talked to say who you could talk to about this? I find it hard to believe that you cannot even find out who to direct your inquiries to.
If your refund was rejected you should contact the IRS and see if they are mailing you a check since they cannot deposit it directly to your account.
Do you have access to your account online? Maybe review your statements for any transactions that you did not authorize.

I agree, something is missing, and I am very determined to know why they froze and then closed my account. Since they are not telling me, then something is missing.
Again, I did nothing wrong and my account was in good standing for 12 years.
yes, so what's the deal? let them close my account. ... That's fine with me, I don't even care about that bank or their serivce. BUT I got hurt from this, becasue I have many links to my account (Bills, ACH, etc.). and my tax reurn payment was rejected by BBVA Conpass bank becasue of that. So, closing my account without a notice is nor right.

My account was not hijacked !!

Thank you for adding comments and wondering if the account was hijacked?
Well, I don't think that the account was hijacked at all. I did go to the branch in person and I spoke with the branch manager, she did not give me any reason, she kept saying: "we can't share any information owith you". When I called the corporate office in Alabama many many times, they said it's becasue of "Unconfortable Transactions".. and that's what made me upset ... they made me feel that I am doing something wrong !! And that's why I took it serious and as an attach on me personally. I think it's my right to know what are those "Uncomfortable Transactions" are. I am not accepting that ans answer from the bank.

Any chance your account has been hijacked?

They are hardly likely to discuss details over the phone since they don't know if they are dealing with you or the person who has (or is attempting to) take over your account.
You need to physically go to the branch with proof that you are the account holder to see what has happened.
As for closing your account, they like every other bank and credit union has this same clause in their agreement. So don't think they are unique or different.
Now, you may be 100% truthful and they just decided to pick you at random to close your account and tick you of. But it is more likely that you are probably leaving things out.

Just some possibilities.
Do you have a bad account at another bank? Do you have bad credit? If so you may be in ChexSystems or have a lower credit score. So when they did a review of your account, which again every bank will do, they felt you became too high of a risk.
Have you filed a lot of disputes? Sometimes this causes them to think that you are again a higher risk.
Do you happen to have a court order that would attach your account for some past judgement?
Again I am just giving you possibilities as to why. The point is that in the end every other bank and credit union would have this same clause. So it may be to your advantage think about other possibilities. Hopefully when they send you your remaining balance you will get a letter with a more specific reason.
