In March of 2003 I purchased a Cleanview Bissell vacuum cleaner. I was so impressed with its performance, you could actually see the bounty of your efforts as you emptied the dust container and cleaned the filters. So impressed in fact that I encouraged my daughter to buy one for her home.
Not long however after its purchase (well within the 1 yr. warranty) it began to squeal loudly. Living 70 miles from a service center and unable to find my purchase receipt we just dealt with the noise. Then while gathering information for this year's tax filings, lo and behold I find my purchase receipt for the vacuum. I took the machine to a service center to have them look at it. They apparently then sent the filters to Bissell who told them that the filters were not cleaned on a regular basis and therefore was not covered under warranty.
I take offense to that diagnosis as all filters and dust collecting receptacles were cleaned and washed immediately after use. If continual care maintenance on this machine will still not insure its life to 1 yr. then I believe the product and warranty issues both need a good looking into. I would like very much to hear your take on this issue as I am currently without a vacuum cleaner and purchasing another Bissell at this point is very much in question.
Above is a copy of the letter I initialy sent to BISSELL. They did eventually say they would send me a new set of filters. BIG DEAL the filters I had were still good. It's the motor that squeals so loud you can't be in the same room with it.
