Anyway I wasnt all that impressed when I got it out and hooked it up. It certainly sounded better in the store. About 11 months later we had a baby and rarely used our new Bose and we chose sleep over movies usually. We watched maybe 3-4 movies a year.
This past August on our Anniversary I rented a movie, got grandma to watch the kid, and grabbed a bottle of wine and was ready to relax. All that changed quickly when I got a "Format Unsupported" error and could not watch the movie. I tried several other CD's with the same result.
Not very happy with Bose I called customer service in the hope they could quickly ressolve our little problem. I went thru all the steps as told but no luck. At this time I was also told the unit was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I explained how little the system was used but it made no difference. I was further told my only choice would be to send the entire unit back and would be charged with no discount.
So it looks like my "investment" did not do to well. Even if we watched 15 movies in our 4 years that comes out to about $65 buck a flick. Thats a lot of popcorn!
I am extremely let down by Bose and their garbage product. I would never buy another one of their products nor should anyone else.

What did the WRITTEN warranty say about how long the warranty was?

If it wasn't, should it just be extended as long as you need it, even if you only let a little old lady from Pasadena use it on alternate Sundays?
A warranty is a manufacturer's agreement with you to cover repairs for a fixed period of time.
Look up a repair shop for Bose or arrange to send it to them.
Don't just take it to your local repair shop...they likely won't fix it properly.
I was an independent tech for Bose for many years and they are very strict about their procedures and policies.
They were fair with their customers and their servicers were paid better than average repair rates.
Sorry you had trouble, but time of use is not a reason to extend a warranty..
Our shop had a customer bring a TV back to our shop after it was repaired several years earlier and said they maybe used it a couple of hours and put it in a closet for several years and it then broke with almost no use.
The TV was placed on the bench and the run timer was polled and showed MANY more hours of use from the previous repair. Needless to say, the new repair was charged for. Many electronic devices now have these run timers that show hours of use.
