AUTHOR: John Bredemann - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, January 09, 2013
Mr. Samuel Stanciel purchased a used 2007 Chevrolet Impala with 67,542 miles from Bredemann Chevrolet on November 2, 2012. The vehicle is covered by a General Motors Certified Used Vehicle Warranty good at any GM Dealership in the U.S, as well as a supplemental Fidelity warranty. Under the GM Certified Program, Mr. Stanciel had the right to return the car if he was not completely satisfied within 3 days or 150 miles of taking delivery.
Immediately after taking delivery of the car, Mr. Stanciel drove eight hundred miles to his Army base in Columbus, Georgia. Upon arrival he demanded our dealership pay for a new set of tires. We could not inspect the tires, but we requested that he send us digital pictures of them to help assess
their condition. None were sent to us. Tires are wear items and not covered by either of the warranties, but the tires did pass GM vehicle certification standards for tire tread at the time of vehicle purchase.
Mr. Stanciel's mother, Ms. Jill Hodkivitz, began accusing us of intentionally taking advantage of her soldier son and promised to smear our family business. Ms. Hodkivitz later also began complaining about the condition of the rotors on her sons used car. In an attempt to better understand the issues, we invited Mr. Stanciel to bring the used Impala in for an inspection while he was home for the holidays. We want each and every customer of ours to be completely satisfied in both sales and service and do our best every day to get to that goal.
When Mr. Stanciel and his mother Ms. Hodkivitz arrived for the inspection on December 22, 2012, they demanded that the dealership agree to replace the tires and turn the rotors for free. When reminded we had only agreed to an inspection to assess the issue, they immediately became loud and disruptive in our service department and in our showroom. We had no choice but to ask for police assistance. When police were finally called, Mr. Stanciel and Ms. Hodkivitz were both escorted from our dealership. Mr. Stanciel yelled that he would bring our dealership down.
Mr. Stanciels Impala had 72,520 miles on the odometer as of December 22, 2012. This means he had driven the car almost 5 thousand miles in less than 60 days on the tires and brakes that his mother Ms. Hodkivitz claims makes it a death trap. Why would anyone do that kind of heavy driving in a car that they claim wasnt safe?
Again, we want each and every customer of ours to be completely satisfied in both sales and service and do our best every day to get to that goal. We have been serving the local communities for a very long time and take pride in the satisfaction of our customers, which is why so many families purchase multiple vehicles with us and continue to utilize our service departments for their vehicle needs.
