I am sadly going to retire my Banana Republic patronage as I am sick and tired of returning/exchanging/being disappointed with crooked fabric as a result of being sewn incorrectly, crooked seams, crooked linings, unattached linings, stitching coming undone, buttons falling off, patterns that don't seamlessly continue throughout the pieces (most noticeable on skirts and dresses), and just CRAPPY poorly made merchandise. Even the earrings and necklaces have defects and inconsistencies. My sister buys two to three of everything so she can try them all on and at least find one well-made piece out of the lot, but I don't have the patience to do that. I would say that 1 out of 8 items I buy are well made and fits correctly.
Over the years it has gotten worse. PLEASE BR, work on your quality control and know I am not the only one who feels so conflicted...I really do want to love your store and do all of my shopping through you, but I just can't and so sadly, I won't. :(

POSTED: Wednesday, October 21, 2009The quality of Banana Republic and Gap has nose dived over recent years.
I bought 2 pairs of pants this summer. 1 Linen drawstring for 70.00 and another casual black pant.
On wearing the Linen pants the second time, the entire hem on 1 leg came undone while I was at work, "the whole entire hem" how embarrassing at work!
The black casual pants, what a complete waste of money, they have 2% spandex in them, they fit fine in the morning, and by the end of the day they look too big. I have only had these pants for several months, and they are starting to show age. I wash them in the delicate cycle, inside out, and cold water only. This has made no difference. Their product is crap, they are only good for T shirts, and mens jeans, as most men dont care about quality.
Except for 1 that I know of, my fashion forward brother, with a conscious, when GAP made the announcement they would stop making jeans in the USA, my brother has stopped shopping at their stores for Jeans. He goes to higher end stores now.
And has found jeans, not made in China.

POSTED: Monday, February 23, 2009ALL THEY EVER HAD THAT I WAS ABLE TO FIT INTO WAS A "MINISTER OF PROPAGANDA TEE SHIRT' FROM THE BANANA REPUBLIC AND MAYBE SOME SHOES.
THE WHOLE IDEA IS THAT YUPPIES DO NOT SHOP FOR VALUE. THEY SHOP FOR TRENDS AND THEY LIKE TO SHOP FROM STORES WHO ARE JUST AS ARROGANT AND SNOTTY AND TOTALLY OVERPRICED AS THEY ARE.
IT IS THEIR TYPE OF STORE BELIEVE ME.
THEY WERE OK WHEN THEY FIRST OPENED UP BUT THEY GRADUALLY DID NOT CARRY MY SIZE AND I DID NOT LIKE THEIR CHEAP MERCHANDISE THAT SHRINKS WHEN YOU WASH IT EVEN THOUGH THE LABEL SAYS YOU CAN -- COLD OR HOT WATER, MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, IT LOOKS LIKE HELL.
I DON'T LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR SNOTTY STORE, THEIR INCREDIBLY CHEAP AND SHODDY MADE MERCHANDISE, SOMEBODY HAS TO BUY THE SECONDS AND MESS UPS FROM THE SLAVE LABOR CAMPS AND PRISONS IN THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES AND I GUESS THESE BOTTOM FEEDERS DID AND THEN HAVE THE INCREDIBLE GALL TO TRY AND SELL DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE FOR REALLY HUGE PRICES. AND THE YUPPIE LEMMING FOOLS SHELL OUT THE BIG BUCKS.
THEY ARE FOOLS.
THEY THINK THEY ARE GETTING A DEAL.
AND THE BUYERS OF TRASH CLOTHING IN UNBELIEVABLE, EMACIATED SIZES LAUGH AND BUY MORE TRASH TO VEND.
GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT SORT OF MARK UP THEY ARE GETTING FOR THEIR RAGS.
WHEN I WENT IN THERE, THEY TREATED ME LIKE I WAS A SHOPLIFTER OR SOMETHING EVEN THOUGHT THERE WAS NOTHING IN THERE IN MU SIZE THAT I COULD WEAR!
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN NOT TO FREQUENT A YUPPIES ONLY STORE.
AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU.
