We went online to get an account with Bank of America, we were informed they had several locations in Ohio. We got our information through the mail. My husband got a payday loan using this account, we had two weeks to put our money into the bank to cover the loan from the payday.
When we got paid we were astounded that we could not even find a Bank of America in our state.
They told us there were several in our state.
I contacted them over and over trying to see what I should do since we had no banks in our area, in the meantime we had to physically go and pay the payday organization the 200 back in person.
They only told me I would have to drive top Indiania to make deposits and bank with them each and every time.
Naturally we could not do that.
Now they have us reported to chex systems as fraudlent activity.
We can not open another account anywhere because of that.
I called them and tried to explain to them that they told me there were no branches on Ohio and that I could not drive 4 hrs to Indiania.
they have put it in a charge off stating that I owe them 1965.00. One check was returned, one time.
This was out of our control. Now we have no way to live, without a checking , debit card to pay biills. Most of my bills are paid over the phone or ach.
I do not know what to do. No other bank will talk to me now about another account.
What can I do?
The only reason I even considered this bank is because it kept coming up online and we were new to the area, I never assumed they would say there was one in Ohio if there wasn't.

Did you know that you can deposit and withdraw money at automated teller machines which are not with Bank of America? You can do ATM banking with Wachovia, Wamu or Chase ATMs, but you will be charged for the transactions. Paying a few dollars per ATM transaction is still cheaper than driving many miles to a BofA ATM or local banking center.
Just because there are no brick-and-motar Bank of America banking centers in Ohio does not mean you cannot do Bank of America banking.

If you pay your bills online you don't need a checking account. I have not used a checking account in three years now and I pay all of my bill online. Simply purchase a pre-paid debit card. It is the same as a checking account only there is no way to overdraft (this is why I use it, it WILL NOT let you overdraft). I have my paycheck deposited directly to the card and use it to pay all bills. I am one of those people that can never seem to get the checking account to balance out. This solved my problem.
Since the card is 'pre-paid' you don't need 'credit' to get one. Personally, I prefer the MIO card. I have had it for 3 years and never had a problem with it. I also got my son a card and can transfer money from my card to his anytime I need to with a phone call. Also, my card was stolen from my purse and used, miocard refunded my the money that was stolen. You can purchase the MIO card at most truck stops like pilot or go to their website. You will find it is much better then a checking account. It also doubles as a credit card. (I do keep my savings account in the bank, but would never even consider a traditional checking account now, I love my miocard).
Don't get the Greendot card. It has too many issues and there are a lot of rip-off reports on it.
