I recently retired and requested service from BellSouth be transfered to my new location. The representative said BellSouth owed 40% of Cingular and they could send me two (2) cell phones, etc. I told them I had a contract with T-Mobil and was pleased.

The day I moved in I received UPS Delivery Cingular phones. I returned the telephones Jan 16th (have a receipt. Meantime, I switched local phone service to CableOne. I paid final bills for my old and new phone numbers.

I received bills for the $379.00 for the Cingular phones, called the representative, received another bill, called. Received an invoice from GC Services Collections agency - sent a letter with all information, return receipt number, etc. and copied it to all three(3) Credit Agencies.

Today I recived a letter from Omnium Worldwide Collection Service threatening a negative report the the Credit Bureau and make arrangements to immediately pay this debt.

I do not owe this and I have made numerous phone calls and have been put on hold, returned to BellSouth and back again. I want this resolved but I do not know what else to do.

Can you give me some tips?

my answer is you need a lawyer to make these guys shake.

379 is too little, but i suggest purchasing prepaid legal services for 25$ a month, let them ruin your credit report, hell even order another cell phone and send it back. make sure u are covered under prepaid legal and sue their asses off. there was no contract because you sent the item back. they are trying to enforce no contract, rather hassleing and what thugs do. intimidate, and take your money.

let them ruin your credit report again, then i would sue for more damages, you could walk away 20,000 richer.
