Received a Rolex watch from my husband as a gift for my birthday. Went to Ben Bridge where it was purchased to have it sized, they did, went back next day, too tight, now too loose, watch is too heavy for me to wear, hurts wrist, uncomfortable. Ben Bridge says, you own it, no return policy. On receipt my husband signed, it stated no return once worn or adjusted. They say its like buying a new car, no return. I say a car you can drive before you buy and there are MANY disclosure forms that you cannot return.

As the reciever of this gift no one told me it could not be returned if worn or adjusted, not even the jeweler informed be before she adjusted. I now own a Rolex that I cannot wear and am out several thousand dollars! Bad policies, disclosure, I'm looking into the legalities of what they say. Don't buy ANY jewelry from Ben Bridge Downtown Plaza.

Retail

AUTHOR: Pops - ()

In our retail jewelry store (not BB) the most important thing is customer satisfaction, even when we have to eat the job. We value our reputation very highly, and have no problem issuing a full refund if the customer is not 100% satisfied. We do not have a no return disclaimer on any merchandise we sell.

Ben Bridge is a reputable company that has served high-end clientele for many decades.

I would think they would know how to word their refund policy by now.

Tifani, it's nice that you stuck up for your friend Tifani...

better disclosure

AUTHOR: Tifani - (U.S.A.)

Good comments on what happened. I am a friend of the person who wrote the original comment. Ben Bridge eventually took care of the situation for a couple hundred dollars. They should have tried to offer another piece of jewelry or store credit as they bought more expensive diamond earrings instead of the Rolex, so they lost that sale too. Better disclosure is suggested, as the receipt print is small. Most people who charge/buy just sign the charge slip, you dont read everyline when you shop at Macys or Sport Mart. There should be a separate disclosure form to highlight the policy and before a piece of jewelry is altered they should have a disclosure form signed by that person BEFORE the changes are made. Seems reasonable to not hide the information. Since the watch was so big on her wrist she could not just wear it to see...she could not wear it all. Rolex has got to be the heaviest timepiece out there.

I Have Something Else to Point Out

AUTHOR: V R - (U.S.A.)

Taking a car on a test drive doesn't mean you can tear out the driver's seat and put another in just because you don't find the original one comfy enough.

Didn't You Notice the Watch Was Too Heavy for You at the Start?

AUTHOR: V R - (U.S.A.)

You could have worn your watch a day or two to see how it feels before taking it in to be sized. Then you would have noticed that it was too heavy and hurt your poor wrist. And you would have been able to get a refund. Consider timepiece test-drive.

He Signed It

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

In your post you stated "on the receipt my husband signed, it stated no return once worn or adjusted". You wore it and had it adjusted. What part of the policy didn't you understand. They had a policy, your husband agreed to it by signing. End of story. Back in my old Zales days, we use to have people come in, buy a piece(s) of jrwelry for a party then return it on Monday, after they'd wore it to their function. Doubt this is the case but hence the return policy. Good luck trying to take it to court. He signed the agreement.

#7 UPDATE Employee

What do you want them to do?

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

What would you have the jeweler do? If they take the watch back, they must sell it as used. So, should they take it back and charge you the difference between the value of a new watch and the resale value of the returned watch? If you don't like it, sell it -- Rolex watches hav excellent resale value.
