Thought they were a recruiting firm - didn't realize they weren't when I drove to Houston for the interview - probably wouldn't have gone!

My interviews were with Scott Raychel, VP of BHA Rep.. He convinced me that people in my age group and type of business were getting $102,500/yr. Of course this was more than I thought I was worth. He also told me over & over & over & over again, that I would probably get my money back when the client paid the fee (my understanding was he felt Sterling Hightower - the recruiter Haldane works/partners with). Assured me I'd have a job in 8 to 12 weeks.

I was surprised when he asked if I could be here Saturday morning at 9:00 am. He was so excited, he would have a team of people here to create my marketing plan and other impressive sounding papers. Of course I said yes - he brought out the contract, but I told him I had to get the money out of my 401K account - I would have it next week - No problem. On the way home I received a phone call from him - he forgot that his son had a karate tournament on Saturday. We set up another appointment for him to introduce me to my advisor.

During Nancy and I's first meeting, she said I would probably have to take a cut in pay - I thought WHAT! That's not what Scott told me. She said the report he used was not specific to Houston or my type of business. Before we could really get started, there was a class I had to attend - 3 wks later.

I have complained to her on several occasions that it was moving too slow. I was told they would re-write my resume - it was taking too long. When I got it, it was reformatted - not re-written.

I quit going in each week, because the information was useless (I drove 100 miles each way)and a waste of my time. I asked on several occasions if we could make the meetings longer, so we could get more done. I soon realized they couldn't be made longer because they were not doing anything for me.

Oh - and the hidden job market thing is a lie. The fantastic database is just about useless. I found out I'm the only one in my field included in the database (yeah, they handled people in my profession). It has taken 3 months for me to get a list of recruiters that would have helped months ago.

Bottom Line: I've gotten some helpful information - maybe worth $500 or less - but not $5,900. I'm very angry - I was below bottom need a job - I took the bait just like a fish!
