POSTED: Wednesday, December 23, 2009Shocking - a retailer actually changed the price on merchandise? You mean they always sell an item at the same price from the beginning to the end of time? If they can raise the price on an item and it still sells (which it obviously did since you bought one) how is that wrong on their part? They're in business to make money, not hold your hand and sing kumbaya.
Epic fail on your part for not having any understanding how retail works.

POSTED: Wednesday, December 23, 2009I get what everyone is saying, but you're right to say they're kind of missing the point. Business is business, I know, I understand that. But just how nice would it be in today's set of circumstances, to see that someone (aka: big business...da man...) actually cares and wants to cut people a break? Unrealistic and idealistic...sure. I was trying to make a simple, silly point. I was in no way taking the "down with Best Buy" stance! So for people who don't know me to make it personal and call me silly and imply that I was basically an idiot...well...that was a little magoo and unnecessary. You seem to "get" where I was going with that, so again I say thank you, and Merry Christmas! I hope you get your money back very soon!

POSTED: Tuesday, December 22, 2009Best Buy is just the worst. it is the principle of the fact. Even if retailers mark up prices good for them. But, they should be wise enough or take the original 9.99 sticker off as to not piss people off like Mama. Best Buy doesn't care. Try to get a human through customer service pass the buck hotline. They are notorious for Bait and Switch and piss poor customer service. Sad when plenty of folks would love to have a job right now.
They have my money right now on an order via online that they adverstised in stock through online confirmed shipping 3 times LOL and through my finally reaching (after 2 hours on hold) a nice lady at the warehouse. She confessed it is discontinued. WOW nice. Incompent communication. Online vs. Store he said she said. All I know is they can take your money just fine. Can't wait to get my $775.00 back.
Happy Holidays to you mamag! P.S. that CD is lame lol making the 3 buck markup all the more ridiculous.
: ) la la la sing along... "10 thousand fire flies and Best Buy's lies dancing through my head!!!
p.s. best buy if you can't peel the sticker off, Sharpies are a must have for all Merchants DUH!

the response makes sense...

POSTED: Tuesday, December 22, 2009"I was given the response of: "the lower price was the introductory price, now it's selling at full, regular price"."
That's not unheard of. For example, go to WalMart on a Tuesday and buy a copy of a movie that was just released that day (let's say District 9). Note the price that WalMart charges for it on release day and then go back next week and note that the same movie will cost more.
The difference here is that someone at Best Buy didn't remove the original price tag.
Mark ups before a holiday? Don't let that get out, florists might start charging more for long stem roses on Valentine's Day.

Standard practice

POSTED: Tuesday, December 22, 2009This is not a best buy issue, this is fairly standard retail practice. The last retail store I worked at we had to peel each individual label of the sale price off and replace it with the new higher regular price.
This is not a ripoff.
