EDitors UPDATE: Positive Rating and Recognition has been given to DirectBuy for its Commitment to Excellence in customer service.
Rip-off Reports investigation of DirectBuy uncovers an ongoing commitment to total client satisfaction. This means that clients can expect the company will always work towards finding a mutually satisfactory resolution to any complaints or concerns in the past, present or future. DirectBuy pledges to help members and guests realize their dreams through exceptional customer experiences and unparalleled savings, service, and selection.
The Rip-Off Report Investigation revealed a demonstrated commitment by DirectBuy to providing excellent customer service and resolving customer issues. They achieve this through several means, including a recent partnership with customer service experts to actively survey their members and guests and make changes that improve their processes and ensure a uniform exceptional experience for every customer. To address the most common concerns, DirectBuy recently started offering free trial memberships at participating club locations, as well as additional tiers and terms of membership to meet a broader range of household budgets.
Several months ago, we attended a presentation by hosted by Direct Buy. At the time, it sounded like a very good deal. The contract stated that you could make monthly payments. We fell behind in payments for a while, because of financial difficulties. I called Beta Finance and asked if we could sell our contract, because we were experiencing financial difficulties. They said no, but they could reduce the payment for at least three months. I called at the end of July, 2007 and asked if we could continue our payments starting the end of August at the reduced rate. The person I spoke with agreed. I do have her name and kept a record of the telephone conversations. When I called today on August 30, 2007 as agreed, the person I spoke with and the supervisor said that the person forgot to inform us that after 120 days the file would be sent to a third party for collection.
I said that they were now in breach of their own agreement, because they made payment agreements and accepted them before the 120 days had elasped. Both the representative and the supervisor were very nasty and said that they sent us letters, which they did not. They kept sending out a bill, but no letter. I am now in the process of contacting an attorney to see what we can do about this.
First, they accept the agreed upon date and the reduced amount and then negate on their own secondary agreement, which was noted on our file. If there is an attorney, who has received such letters or handles these types of cases, we would love to have his/her telephone number.
DirectBuy and Beta Finance are really terrible to deal with. There should be an out clause for a company such as Direct Buy, because you actually lose close to $5,000 without making any purchases at all. And, they still want money, will close your account and you get NOTHING. This doesn't sound very legal to me, no matter what is written in a contract.
