BBB  Hawaii  states on their  website  that  they  are not  aware  of  any  "significant government actions involving  Hawaiian Airlines,  Inc."

I  contacted  BBB of Hawaii  in  January 2012  and  informed  them  that  this  information was not  correct  since  Hawaiian Airlines  was  fined  $ 50,000  in August 2009  for their  unfair and  deceptive  practices.

(Consent order 2009-8-4  issued  by the  Department  of  Transportation on August, 10, 2009,  OST-2009-0001)

On  Jan., 30, 2010  Mr.  Sonnenberg  of  BBB of  Hawaii  responded,  "...  I  just  realized I  provided you with incorrect information.  Thank you for bringing to our attention the  information about the government action against Hawaiian Airlines.  We  are working to develop text concerning the government action and accurately update our  information on the company."

Since then  nothing has  happened:  their  company  information about  Hawaiian Airlines  is  still  showing that  no  significant  government  actions  are  know  (I  just  checked  it  again,  today  is  April, 19,  2012).  I  followed  up and  contacted  Mr.  Sonnenberg  on February, 07  and  March,24, 2012  without  getting  any  response.

On  March, 30, 2012  I  contacted  the  Consumer  Protection  Division  of  the  Attorney  General's  Office  in Honolulu.  Their  response  was  "As  a  State  Agency,  the  Office of  Consumer Protection is  limited by  statute as  to the types of  cases that it may  investigate and  prosecute.  (...)  I  regret  we  are  not  able  to  assist you in this  matter.

Great !   A  Consumer  Protection  Agency  that  is  barred  by  law  to  write  a  letter  to  the  Better  Business  Bureau  to  find  out  why  they  would  continue  to  mislead  consumers  and  to  give  false  information  about  a  specific  company ????    I  can't  believe  that  the  BBB   is  granted  immunity  for  deceiving  customers  by  law....

To  me  this  looks  like  Mr.  Dunkerly  meets  the  BBB  boss  and  the  Hawaiian  AG  on  a regular  basis  for  dinner  and  golf  and  that  this  is  the  true  reason  why  BBB  is  unwilling  to  change the  company  information  in  regards  to  government  actions.   It  is  really  sad  that  the  government  in  the  United States  of  America  tolerates  something  like that.   I  would  expect  this  kind  of  government  behavior  in  countries  like  Nigeria  but  in the  US  ?
