I have twice purchased murchandise that doesn't work at the same store," BIG LOTS". The first time it was a 1,250,000 candle power dual halogen spot light that never worked. I went on line to try and reach the manufacturer but they are nowhere to be found. I decided not to worry about it and now my second trip in recent months I've been taken again. This time it was a TriQuest 60-319 rechargable-wireless-optical mouse. It doesn't work, need I say more. I did find them on internet but there is no support. They only offer installation instructions. I did email Big Lots feedback who suggest that they want to hear from people because they care. They didn't bother replying, that's how much they care. I would strongly suggest to people not to buy products from Big Lots since they not only sell close outs they sell products that are rejected by other retailers. DON"T BUY JUNK! Pay a few cents more and get working products.

Did you ask for a refund?

AUTHOR: Naku - (USA)

Seriously all you have to do is ask for a refund they would have given you another one or at least your money back a lot of times if someone returns a non working product and you want to exchange it a lot of time we will test it for you if you ask before we even give it to you if it is easily tested, Also w***e buys something that doesn't work and doesn't take it back immediately or at least within the next few days? thats just stupid

Happy to give you a refund.

I am a CSS at a Big Lots store in Missouri. Big Lots does not knowingly buy and sell defective merchandise, our buyers deal with warehouses that are overstocked, companies that have updated thier packaging and no longer want to sell older versions, or buyout big chain stores that go out of bussiness and need to empty out their wharehouses. The two items you mentioned more in likely sat on the shelves of other chain stores before coming to Big Lots so will you not shop at those store from now on either? I would hope not.

You should be upset with the manufactor of these products for making poor products and having no way to contact them not at the store they were purchased. When you bring in any defective item we tag them as DEFECTIVE and write down the price, problem and manufactor on the tag and then it is sent back to where it came from and they have to REFUND our company for whatever cost they charged us for it. The main buyers review these refunds and if the see a repeated problem with the same item they stop doing bussiness with those people.

We also recieve chain letters from the corpate office to pull products from our shelves if any where else in the distact has had a problem with them that way our customers are not getting ripped off. Anytime you buy a defective item please return it and and let us know exactly what is wrong so we can take actions to make sure this doesn't happen agian. I know you probably think I am being partial because I work at a Big Lots but I myself have had to refund diffrent items from diffrent stores other then Big Lots and as long as the CSS was nice and the problem was taken care of I continue to shop at those places.

I do not know why Big Lots feedback ignored you I am just a CSS but I know you can always just talk to the store manager in person with any of your problems or ask that store for thier distact office phone number I am pretty sure they have to give it to you. One last tip I do not work at the store you had problems with but at my store we will even glady plug in most electroic items to try out before you buy or put in a few spare batteries just to make sure it works if you just ask at the sevice desk that's our way of making sure you do not leave with JUNK hopefully your store runs its customer service the same way.

As I sit at my luxurious computer desk I bought from Big Lots in a Comfortable chair I bought from Big Lots...

AUTHOR: Helene - (U.S.A.)

Using the cute little desk lamp that I bought from Big Lots, enjoying the fact that a couple of faux-Oriental style rugs are protecting my feet from the cold and I bought those at Big Lots...CHEAP! REAL CHEAP!

I am wondering whether or not I shall have some hot chocolate and heat water in the whistling stainless steel tea kettle I bought form Big Lots or the $5 Coffee Maker (made in the US) that I bought at Big Lots...

Or maybe I will listen to the CD Player from a big name US manufacturer that I bought at Big Lots as well while I read my favorite web site....THE RIP OFF REPORT.

I bought all of this stuff at cut-rate bargain basement prices!

You got to know what you are buying!

If your stuff doesn't work, get your receipt and get the defective merchandise and get yourself down there and complain.LOUD! I just get better merchandise exchange sooner.I am polite and courteous but LOUD!

The secret is KNOWING HOW TO SHOP by TAKING THE TIME TO SHOP WELL.

Like I said earlier, you have to plan it like you are going to war! Think that the merchants is going to screw you out of every penny he or she can and you have to be on the offensive!

KNOW YOUR MERCHANDISE!

In my case, there was a no-name lamp from Slave Labor Camp, China badly wired with badly insulated wires and solder job from hell versus a well-known manufacturer of a similar lamp and they were at the SAME price. Of course, I went into the boxes until I found a good one and I bought it.

MERCHANTS SHUDDER IN FEAR WHEN THEY SEE ME COMING INTO THEIR STORE.
I am NOT rude to their personnel. I JUST INSIST ON INSPECTING THEIR MERCHANDISE UNTIL I FIND SOMETHING THAT IS WORTH THE LOWER PRICE I WANT TO PAY FOR IT.

People tell me that I not only pinch a penny until it screams and bleeds but until I get the plasma as well! I look into boxes, buy slightly damaged floor samples and scream for a discount... Sometimes I think they want to pay ME to get me OUT of the store!

I bought an entire futon from Big Lots on sale for $50. They have a Buzz Club you can join online where you get notice of what is going to be coming in and when so you have an idea to get your money ready...make the plan, ready, set , attack, er,SHOP!

YOU GOT TO MAKE TIME TO SHOP...YOU HAVE TO INSPECT THE MERCHANDISE FOR EVERY FLAW..TOO MAY FLAWS, I forget it.If it is something I want, I haggle!

Once you realize that the merchant is in business to (expletive deleted)you out of your sheckels, then you see how important it is to know your merchandise, plan a plan of attack and lollow through with a couple of shopping carts STUFFED full for LESS!

BIG LOTS IS MY GLADIATOR ARENA!
