at its best!

I purchased a 2006 Chevy Uplander and assumed that the doors had a keyless remote. When I ased the dealer he told me that I would have to pay another $400. to have it installed.

Just the other night, someone parked their vehicle so close to me that I was unable to get into my car since I may only enter through the drivers side. I had to wait for over a hour until the vehicle owner drove away.
I feel this is a safety issue and I should have been given the option to purchase a keyless remote at time of purchase.

I also feel that Bill Heard is responsible for not including easy access for entry.

My question remains..

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

Even though there is no key on the passenger door, and no remote entry, you still have a key for the back of the SUV. Why didn't you open the back? You could've easily made it to the front of the car.

Reminds of the guy who called a locksmith to open his car because he locked the keys inside. He told the locksmith to hurry because it looked like rain and he left the top down...

You Have An Alternative...

AUTHOR: Marty - (U.S.A.)

$400 is absolutely ridiculous for adding the convenience of keyless entry.

A reputable and experienced installer or installation shop can do this for $150+/-,
and possibly with the remote start function.

Not only that, but I have removed several dealer-
installed units and they are usually generic junk, and just another "mark up" for the dealer.

Make a few phone calls and you'll find out that
your options are actually quite good.

Good luck!

Keyless Remote Optional

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

I just looked in my 2006 Chevy Uplander sales booklet. The Keyless Remote Entry is optional in the LS models and standard in the LT models.

You can probably get a keyless remote installed somewhere other than the dealer for cheaper. I found a place near me on my previous car.

Most new cars have door locks on one side

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

Most new cars have door locks on the driver side only, since about 2005. This includes all of the Uplanders. How is it the dealerships fault that someone else parked too close?

Contact Chevy - GM.

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

And also search the auto sites, You should be able to look at vehicle descriptions etc. If what you have IS standard, then you should have done your research before you bought. Or if the dealer is taking you for a ride, you should have proof of that. This is why it is better to research your purchases ahead of time. But I understand that 63% of Americans DO NOT research or comparison shop before they complete their purchase.

The right hand drive cars I used in the UK only had locks on the driver's door. I thought it was an oddity of the UK.
