I was in the process of purchasing a 2005 dodge magnum. I was at work but my daughter went to the dealer to look at a couple of cars that i had seen on the dealers website the night before.

The salesman and my daughter both came to my job driving cars that I asked my daughter to look at for me. My daughter drove a 2005 Monte Carlo and the salesman drove a 2005 dodge magnum. I looked at both and decided I wanted to buy the magnum. I gave the salesman all the needed papers, i had a preapproved car loan.

My daughter went back to the dealership to fill out the necessary paperwork. I was to go after work to sign the final papers. Fist the salesman had no ideal how to deal with my preapproval loan he told me I needed to fax a paper to my bank. My daughter returned to my job with a purchase order, signed by the salesman, and a computer print out from my insurance company showing that this magnum was already put on my policy.

I called the salesman to ask what i needed to do next and since he did not know what to do with the preapproval letter i called the bank to find out. I had to call salesman to tell him to call the bank. Aprox 45 minutes later salesman called me back, he said, " I have good news and bad news. good news is you are approved( gee what a surprise), bad news is another salesman sold this magnum to someone who came to dealer with cash and who was throwing a fit in the showroom." I already had the purchase order and the car was already put on my insurance. I do not understand how one car can be sold to two people at same time.

I was in the process of doing paperwork and I have the purchase order in my posession right now.

I was buying this car with internet price which was less then sticker price. The other person who showed up at dealer had cash. I feel that this car was stole from me because the other person had cash and I was financing.
I am very angry.

I have since purchased a car that I really love from another dealer, but I feel this dealer was very unprofessional and i will never do business with them again.

already bought it

AUTHOR: Lisa - (U.S.A.)

for yor information, even though I did not go to dealer myself I was still in the process of buying this car. The salesman signed the paper and the financing was approved and this car was even already put on my insurance policy. All I needed to do was go to dealership and sign final paper and pick up the car. It was a different salesman that sold this car to another person because there was no communication between the two salesmen. I had actually got the paperwork before this other person came along. just because i did not actually go to the dealership, the salesman came to me. the car should have been mine. it should not matter how i conducted my purchase, either by going to dealer or having them come to me it was still a sale in progress.
I am finished with this. I would appreciate it if others keep their responses to themselves. i just wanted to put it out there what happened to me so that people will know things like this happen.
thank you for the comments. at least I know people are reading my complaint.

What's the fuss all about?

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

Two people wanted to buy the same car at the same time.

One walked into the dealership and offered to pay cash immediately.

The other would not take the time to go to the dealership and relied on third parties to get the deal done.

Gee, is anyone really surprised that the car went to the guy with ready cash?

A Simple Rule of Thumb For Robert,The "Honest" Car Salesman

AUTHOR: Russ - (U.S.A.)

Robert. You inquired about the rules on this website in regards to finding out peoples numbers or emails adressess.
I don't know what the rules are myself.Sorry.But I do know one rule of thumb about this website.

Any car salesman who claims to be honest and uses this web site to try and solicit business his way will end up getting bashed by someone bigtime.

Good luck.

happy with new car

AUTHOR: Lisa - (U.S.A.)

I am still very angry about what the salesman did by selling the car I was in the process of buying, but in the long run I am happy with the car I did purchase and I like the color of my now car much better then the magnum, which was white.

the dealer I actually bought from, the salesman was very nice and was not pushy at all.

I have had a bad experience recently with car dealer and was kind of leary of even buying a car at this time but my preapproval letter was about to run out and i really wanted a new car.

I just could not believe that this happened, this is the second bad time with a dealer in about a month.

I am more angry over the fact that this happened then actually loosing the car. It is just the principal of the situation now.

I just want to warn other people to be careful, and never buy a car without actually being at the dealer.

I made the mistake of sending my daughter to do the paperwork for me since I was at work.

Had I been at the dealership this never would have happened.

Not All Dodge Dealers are Dishonest

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

I am not saying that Bill Luke did or did not do anything dishonest. I am simply saying if you got bad service at one dealership, give another one a try. I work for a local Dodge dealership in Peoria, AZ and would love your business. I will give you a great price as well. I am not sure of the rules concerning numbers/email addresses since I am new to the site.

You had recourse

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

With a signed purchase order from that dealership, you could have easily forced them to fill the order for the price you were given. However, who's to say how long it would have taken them to get the car (could be a month or two if they had to order it). Presumably you got a Magnum at another dealer? If you already had a deal worked on the first Magnum I would think you'd have gotten the same or nearly the same from the other dealership as far as price goes.

Your best revenge? You didn't give them your business and you will no doubt never give them your business. It was both unprofessional of them and, well, stupid. But, you have a car you're happy with and they lost a deal.

Alls well that ends well, I say.
