"The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, made his eyes red, his thin lips blue, and he spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice ..." - Dickens

I write this as an open letter to you, Bill Zinke, the most opprobrious employer I have ever had the misfortune of working for. I debated as to whether I should waste my time writing this or not, because more than likely, what I have to say will not phase you. Report after report has been filed on this site, post after post has gone on Craigslist to present warning to those who might consider working for you. And through all of it, you maintain you are the hapless victim of a systematic campaign designed to harass and destroy you. No, Bill, it is to give due and fair warning to others about your disgusting abuse of people, unscrupulous business practices, and exploitation of employment law.

Working for you was undoubtedly the most miserable work experience of my life. You displayed relentless, misogynistic, and rude behavior. On countless occasions I asked you to speak to me in a respectful manner, but you couldn't even show me this common courtesy.  I thought that it was just me, but I know from personal conversations I have had with some of your former employees, emails I read from people who refused to do business with you anymore (authors and "strategic partners"), and reading the numerous resignation letters and unemployment appeals, that it was not me, that is how you treat people in general. You lure people in with a large salary, convincing each of us that somehow you'll be different than these reports. You'll be "nice" for a week or two, then the real you comes out. You tell each person that drifts in and out of your office about the fabrication of the infamous 115+ employee list and the "lies" that exist within these Ripoff Reports. And some of us, obviously, are gullible enough to think that it JUST MIGHT be different than the stories we've read. That stupidity is our own fault.

I write this in the present tense, not that I work for you any longer, but I know this is how you are still running your business. I know you have not had that magical Scrooge-like epiphany that will make you repent your ways. You abuse people. You have no respect for anyones time or life. You use every minute and ounce of energy you can squeeze out of people. You hold money over your employee's heads. You give bonuses, and then accuse people of stealing money from you. You destroy people and don't care. It doesn't matter if your [former] employees lose their homes or cars because you've fired them, or their health or their relationships while they are under your employ, as long as your needs are met. You truly think the world revolves around you and your delusions. Your lack of understanding about technology is pathetic. Your antiquated business practices are no longer viable in the world that exists today. Your senility has a direct impact on the office, but you refuse to acknowledge it. No one does business like you anymore.

You misrepresent jobs within your organization. People are hired to be Project Coordinators, Executive Assistants, Marketing Directors, etc. and in the end we are overpaid braindead-typists, typing your handwritten emails, attempting to decipher your hyphens and run-on sentences. Your insistence that your employees "think outside the box" and your demand for "excellence" is a tiresome joke.  I was well aware of how you felt about me and your lack of faith in my abilitieswhich was complete nonsense. If I was that incapable, then why did I last as long as I did? Plain and simple, you could not control me and it made you angry. I refused to play your games, kiss your butt, or work your long hours. I imagine thats what has done-in a majority of your employees: a refusal to bend to your rules. That doesnt work with people like you. Those of us who have any sort of self-worth are a threat to your need for control, so we must be eliminated.

Your unethical business practices are catching-up with you. Telling people about money you receive from sponsors is a LIE. Your definition of "business dealings" is to contact people via letter, tell them about your meeting(s), and then ask them for money. Even if they don't write you back or send you a rejection letter, you twist it in a way that makes it seem like you've had an outstanding business relationship for years. It amazes me the amount of people you have s****.>
It amazes me how you have stayed in business all these years; you are guilty of conducting one of the most inhospitable work environments Ive ever encountered.  One day, old man, life and karma will catch-up with you (as I think it is right now). People are abandoning you left and right. Your ability to attract and keep employees is diminishing. People no longer want to do business with you. You think "power" is defined as being a white man with a lot of money in your bank account surprise, Bill, it's no longer 1950 and "your kind" is going the way of the dinosaur. You want to try to hunt me down and figure out who is behind this? Go for it. You want to sue me for libel? It's not libel if it is true. I would be more than happy to expose you for all you really are: a pathetic old man who is clinging to delusions of grandeur.

Your ego is bigger than reality and reality is, Bill, you are insignificant.

Planned retirement after successful career

AUTHOR: Bill Zinke - (United States of America)

To the Readers of Ripoff Reports,

The person who created this site is Michele Martin, who threatened to “get even” because HRS successfully contested her claim for unemployment compensation. The reason for doing so: she resigned voluntarily, returned her office key and left without providing notice in the middle of working on an important project. She subsequently testified in her unsuccessful UC hearing that the new job lasted for only six weeks, and she has since then held at least two more jobs. Most of the statements in her original posting and in several she subsequently posted, all with the cloak of anonymity but clearly attributable to her, contain outrageously false statements that are the basis for a libel and malicious defamation of character lawsuit.

We have sold our consulting activities, and I plan to retire after completing a current project. I wish everyone good luck who has posted on this site.

Sincerely,

Bill Zinke

The worst

AUTHOR: norma - ()

The Judy Hurtl review sounds like it was written by Bill Zinke. It wouldn't surprise me, and only one employee in 30 years can defend you, pretty sad

That's all I really have to add, all the other reviews about this guy are on point. Life is too short to type letters all day.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Rebuttal from Ex-Employee of William K. Zinke

AUTHOR: Judy Hartl - ()

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Judy Hartl, and I worked with  Bill Zinke for about seven years when his management consulting firm was located in New York City.

Working with Bill was a challenge because his standards were high, partly because of his legal background but more because he was building a consulting practice that entailed working with senior executives in major companies who expected a high quality of work.  Along with myself, there were three additional support staff.  I can speak for all of them who felt as I did, and most of these girls were also with Bill for approximately the same length of time.

I thought I had excellent skills when Bill hired me, but learned a great deal from working with him and only left because I remarried.  I now live in Florida and still have fond memories of working with Bill.  If fact, we still exchange Christmas cards after 26 years, and he has visited my husband and me in Florida.

I am happy to put my name on this posting.

Judy Hartl

Bill Zinke Responds to Posts

AUTHOR: Bill Zinke - (United States of America)

To the Posters:

I have read all of the postings and believe some have validity. I am reminded of the Chinese riddle, which some of you have heard me quote:
QWhat is the biggest room in the world?
AThe room for improvement.
This applies to me, as it does to all of us.

There are parts of the postings that are absolutely untrue, for example that nobody stays beyond a short period and that I accept advice from nobody. The Office Manager is really an essential part of CPLs ongoing success. He has worked with me for more than 2 years, has received three substantial salary increases and three substantial bonuses because his work is consistently excellent. I frequently seek his advice and frequently accept his suggestions. He has traveled with me to four meetings (in one made the announcement that we would create a LinkedIn account for meeting participants at their request) and is a real colleague.

During the past four years, my long period of good health has caught up with me. They began with a severe case of shingles, followed by a fractured hip from which I am now almost fully recovered through the great support of a wonderful physical therapist, two angioplasties, and a hernia operation. What has sustained me is my motto Strength in Adversity, and that same motto also sustains me through the travails of Rip-off Reports, which clearly show room for improvement.

I suspect there is room for all of us to improve.

Sincerely,

Bill Zinke

Note: One point I would like to make clear is that, despite the popular conception that people beyond 80 are over the hill and out of the game, I and the Center for Productive Longevity are going strong. I leave on March 16 for a busy week in Europe and may be making a trip to the Asia Pacific in April. CPL is making a difference in stimulating the substantially increased engagement of people 50 and older in productive activities, paid and volunteer, where they are qualified and ready to continue adding value. One important attribute, of course, is a positive attitude and an optimistic spirit.

Everything stated is true

AUTHOR: RBO - (United States of America)

Kudos to all the individuals sharing their stories about Bill Zinke. I was not involved with Bill Zinke and the Center for Productive Longevity/Human Resource Services for very long, but I will state that every accusation leveled at the man is accurate. His need for control is unrelenting, his reluctance to acknowledge anyone else's skills/abilities/talents is pathetic, and the way he treats everyone (especially his employees) is beyond unacceptable. Do not get involved with him or his organization unless you like wasting your time and sanity.
