I rented 6 movies on 4/28/2012. I did not know they were due back in 24 hours, it had always been 5 days. I don't have alot time to rent movies so it had been many months since I went to Blockbuster.
I paid with a debit card and swiped it on the machine.
Working on my accounting today, I printed my online statement to balance my account. I found 3 charges to Blockbuster. Hmmm. I did rent movies on the 28th 11.47 charge, fine. Then on May 9th an additional charge of 16.98 ( I was out of town on this day) and another charge on May 11th for 40.72. I work retail on weekends and certainly don' t have time to rent movies.
I called blockbuster and talked to the Manager on Duty, in Blockbuster world he is the shift leader, Avery. I told him someone was using my card and charging movies to my card. I told him I rented movies on the 28th and returned them the following Tuesday. He saw the charges on my account and said I had purchased the movies after 5 days. What??? I said is this a RACKET Block buster is doing to stay in business? He said no, I told him I didn't want to purchase the movies. I told him I returned them on Tuesday, he put me on hold to find the movies I rented. He came back and said the movies were there. I asked him to credit my debit card and he said I would have to come back in and swipe my card again.
I decided to get this handled with Avery and drove up to blockbuster to get my debit card credited 57.70. I again asked Avery how did the two additional fees get charged to my account if they did not have access to my card? He said when I swiped my debit card, THEY HAVE ADDED IN AN ADDITIONAL PROMPT MESSAGE THAT STATES, DO YOU WANT LATE FEES CHARGED TO THIS CARD, INSTEAD OF DO YOU WANT CASH BACK!!!!!
I got my fees credited back to my account, and I wanted everyone to know THAT BLOCKBUSTER RENTALS IS NOW BLOCKBUSTED. SPREAD THE WORD, PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THAT GOES ON AROUND YOU...
