We purchased our pool and during construction they dug too far into the retaining wall, violating the code and then tried to charge us $1,700 to fix their mistake. The retaining wall now needed to consist of a reinforced concrete cynderblock. That little mistake ended up costing us about 6 months in time and $1,200- still a far cry from thier estimate of $1,700. The pool was to be constructed in 60 days. They started construction in September of 2000 and finished in May of 2001. They did my neighbor's pool across the street. They poured his concrete in January (a very cold January; one of the coldest on record) and also plastered his pool the same month. They were drying his plaster with a blowtorch because it was so cold it was freezing before it would cure. They had to come back out 2 months later and redo his plaster because it was flaking off. They came out 6 months later and redid his concrete decking because of pits and it was chipping apart. It was determined that the decking was due to poor quality cement provided by the manufacturer. Our deck was discolored, but after the incident over the retaining wall, I just wanted to get it over with and not have to deal with them again. Well....Now my deck is chipping and pitted as well as discolored. I contacted the new managment/ owner and was told that it was over the 1 year warranty and they would do nothing. I did not think that concrete could be so "non permanent" that it would have a warranty on it. Additionally, if they had confidence in their workmanship, you would think that the warranty would be lifetime. Also, there are pieces broken off of the ozone cholorinator, which I am having a problem tracking down to replace them. My Filter cannister is leaking as there is a leak in the plumbing. I was also told that there is a 1 year guarantee on the plaster- I got the 3M Quartz, which supposedly has a lifetime guarantee- There appears to be a little conflict in theory here. I am so angry that I will continue to write letters and talk about it to anyone that will listen. This is totally the last straw..... Melissa Citrus Heights, California
