There is so much to say that I'm not sure I can get it all on here, but I will try! I'm just glad that I found this site to let people know what a dishonest company Blue Hippo really is!
First of all, I have been divorced twice and lost 1/2 of everything I own TWICE as well, so that put me in a very rough place money wise! I am a single Mom who needed to get a computer to get back in the workforce after being home with my children for about 16 years, so I thought Blue Hippo was the perfect way to accomplish that. I started paying my bi-weekly payments of almost $100.00 each in December, 2007. It seemed that every time I needed to get in touch with their Customer Service for any reason at all, I had wait times of up an hour if someone answered at all. Therein lies my first complaint.
I tried using the "Contact Us" way on the web site many times as well as all the phone calls. The few times that I did get a response, the reps all seemed to have scripted answers that never even answered the questions that I had asked them! It was so frustrating, yet they took out my payments without once having a problem for almost one year (yes it was almost paid off) when I guess I finally got a clue that something was very wrong with this whole situation and stopped the payments from being withdrawn from my checking account. Believe me when I say that that was one of the most difficult things I have ever tried to do! They DO NOT make it easy!!!
At that time, I was told that I could use my money as a credit for their other products that they sell, but I would NOT and I repeat NOT get a refund as it was in my signed paperwork from the beginning. I was upset, but thought, oh well, they do carry several things that I could use, so I put in my order for a camera for my daughter in November, 2008 and they did show that order on the web site.
I had to send them a money order for $44.00 to pay for the shipping, which I thought at the time was strange, but really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and sent them the money order exactly like they requested it and to this day have heard nothing from Blue Hippo, and when I go on the web site to check it shows that my money order hasn't even been credited to my account.
I called them and wrote them about this issue 6 weeks after I had sent it and they said that it just hadn't been posted yet and I had to give them another 6 weeks to do so. OMG! I work in accounting and I know for a fact that you can't hold someone's money for 12 weeks before posting it!!! Anyway, that second 6 weeks is up the end of March (this month) and I know nothing will have been done about it even at that point.
I just don't know what to do about this...please someone out there help me get my money back! I am in dire straits and could use the $2,000.00+ money back not to mention that it IS my money in the first place!!! Help me!
