I bought 8000 Bluegreen Vacation club points at Big Cedar Wilderness Club two years ago in Ridgedale, MO. Whenever I call to schedule a vacation at Big Cedar they don't have any available accomodations at the time when I call. Regardless of when I call, whether it be six months from the time I want to schedule the vacation or six weeks, they don't have rooms available at Big Cedar Wilderness Club. Because, we can't afford to travel to any other of the Bluegreen vacation sites, we can only afford to use and try to schedule our vacations at Big Cedar in MO. Despite calling six different times in 2008 to schedule a vacation, we could not get available rooms/cabins. I have paid the mortgage in full and now face having to pay the yearly club and maintenance fees (which were increased this year) despite the fact that we cannot use the vacation points....I've learned my leason about ripoffs..Buyer Beware!

Also, did you know the rules changed shortly after you joined? And another tip.

Also, I just connected that you'd said you'd bought about two years ago and that you were trying to reserve six months out at the longest - within the past two years the rules changed so that all members could reserve any kind of reservation (full or partial weeks) eleven months out. Before then you couldn't make partial reservations before six months out, I believe, and, because of how the rules worked, Priemiere members could "shut people out" of the weeks they wanted. Which is one reason why Bluegreen changed the rules; to give people with fewer points better odds of getting the time they wanted.

Which is no help at all if you were calling six months out because you can't schedule your vacations any earlier. And may not seem a help if your Anniversary date limits you to six months out, however you solve that problem by paying your maintenance fees ahead a year (which means you have to pay them twice that year, but only that one time), and then continuing to keep a year ahead on your fees so you always have eleven months to reserve with. But if you were calling in at six months out because you thought that was the earliest you were allowed to, then you should give it another shot after moving closer to the head of the line by reserving at eleven months (or however early you can).

Carla,

This information may or may not be useful to you, since I don't know for a fact that you have a Big Cedar unit; usually they sell you units where you buy, but if you were buying a number of points no longer available at that resort they may have sold you a unit somewhere else in the Bluegreen system.

The thing is, Bluegreen Resorts is primarily a "points based" system, where you trade your points for vacations at ANY Bluegreen resort. HOWEVER, you also have the option of treating the Bluegreen unit and week that you own as a regular timeshare. You can reserve *that particular week and unit* one year out and you *will* get it. If you don't reserve it 12 months out, then at eleven months your points from that unit go "in the pot" and your unit is available to the Bluegreen member who first asks for it.

Not all Bluegreen salesmen know this, and the ones who know it don't always mention it because Bluegreen is All About The Points. But if you bought a Big Cedar unit, then you have first rights to rent *that unit* on *your week*, every year, if you want - however, you have to reserve it a year back. Your contract should have the location, unit number and week number on it; if the week number has an "F" next to it it's a full week I believe. I don't remember how partial weeks are indicated.

The experienced people at the Bluegreen Yahoo group might have some other suggestions or advice; I'm somewhat of a newbie at this but I do know that tidbit.
